Imagine a world where we held Musk to the same standard as Holmes.
DarmokTanagra··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
Grant and Harding are famous for being personally corrupt.

Nixon resigned to avoid impeachment for political corruption.

Reagan colluded with Iran to prevent the release of hostages during Carter's re-election campaign and later sold them weapons to bypass congressional oversight.

These are just a couple well known examples at the presidential level, I am sure that for every one we know about there are dozens if hundreds of similar examples.

Go further down the scale to the congressional, state, city, and municipal levels and you encounter even pettier levels of corruption where you can buy votes for 5 figure construction contracts or just simple cash handoffs.

DarmokTanagra··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
Corruption in the US went from proxying bribes through layers of shell corps and lobbyists to just buying Trump coin.

It has always existed, but it is absurdly easy now and happening in plain sight.

DarmokTanagra··on Three sites made 215,128 “best software” pages for AI. Perplexity cites them
If that were true I would expect to see prose that more closely resembles the "caveman" messages found in the HuggingFace attack than the overly flowery nonsense we see in AI blogspam.

i've been doing something similar and decided to stick with godot.

have you found yourself constrained with engine boilerplate or do you feel like you are making good progress on the magic system?

DarmokTanagra··on Dwarf Fortress is getting the mother of all magic updates
Noita is the first that comes to mind.

Some others that I have in my library are magicraft, fictorum, and spell chain.

I'm messing around with these ideas myself, reminds me of the old days of crafting broken spells in morrowind.

DarmokTanagra··on Dwarf Fortress is getting the mother of all magic updates
to each their own, but that is the least interesting part of DF for me.

I like the narrative element and enjoy delegating random shit and seeing what happens.

nobody is making you play it, and the people who enjoy playing it don't really care if it you liked it or not.

steam release is a major improvement beyond just the graphical updates.

if you are a fan of the original I would encourage you to give it another shot.

DarmokTanagra··on Dwarf Fortress is getting the mother of all magic updates
as someone who grew up playing ascii games I was pretty excited about the graphical update.

there is a novelty to ascii, but its a barrier to entry and major eye strain.

The eiffel tower will be gone long before stonehenge.
DarmokTanagra··on 1960s theory that Stonehenge was a prehistoric computer
Stonehenge is more like stacking rocks next to a stream than what their contemporaries were doing in other parts of the world.
DarmokTanagra··on Creepy Crawlies

DarmokTanagra··on Agent memory as a file format
I was responding specifically to the parent comment that was suggesting generating ad-hoc sql.

Also fwiw grep is pretty poorly suited to semantic search and will only return the most basic of matches.

If you are really trying to build a useful memory search tool there are much better options than plain text search.
