DarkCrusader2··on WhatsApp co-founder tells everyone to delete Facebook
Instead of requiring Facebook and google to improve their ways, if we all started using ad-blockers more aggressively, setting up things like pihole for our family members and friends, wouldn't this solve the problem since companies won't have any incentive of collecting the data? It seems to me to be a much better idea that expecting multi-billion corporations to act against their interests.
DarkCrusader2··on Writing a personal automation API
Off-topic but every time I open their site I am blown away by how fast their pages load. It's an absolute delight to navigate their blog.
DarkCrusader2··on REST is the new SOAP
Exactly. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Why can't they both be suitable for different use cases.
DarkCrusader2··on REST is the new SOAP
I avoid medium posts as much as possible. Everyone is an expert on there with very strong opinions telling me how every technology older than 2 years and not written in javascript is obsolete/dead/not the right way/new <insert a dead technology>.

And what's with the UI on their publications. They take up top 25% of the screen with the branding and navbar and bottom 10% asking me to sign in and both sticks on the screen. Who approved that?

DarkCrusader2··on Google for India: Building India-first products and features
What ISP is this??
DarkCrusader2··on Google increasingly is promoting a single answer for many questions
> The kind of person who would google something as obvious as that

Yes, no kid is ever gonna google that. While we are at it, let's show that earth is flat when someone google for image of earth's curvature because why would you search that. You obviously are a flat-earther.

DarkCrusader2··on EA's new 'Star Wars' game is so unpopular a developer got death threats
Hell they even removed the refund button from their portals.
DarkCrusader2··on Facebook asks users for nude photos in project to combat revenge porn
Submitting your nude photos to a cloud company, what could go wrong.
DarkCrusader2··on Firefox 56: Last Stop Before Quantum
> assuming you turn the right switches off

That's the problem. I shouldn't have to find the switches in the first place. Plus they constantly keep shuffling the settings around(on other google apps and android too) and I can never find the ones I am looking for.

DarkCrusader2··on VLC maintainer has refused “several tens of millions of Euro”
Be sure to check out gnome-mpv if you on gnome and haven't heard of it yet.
DarkCrusader2··on DuckDuckGo vs Google
With my limited knowledge of javascript, I don't think it can be done as any code to change font will be lost when new page is loaded. You might want to look into greasemonkey or their official chrome extension(I haven't tested it out).
DarkCrusader2··on DuckDuckGo vs Google
Add this to your bookmark bar. Click on any such sites. It redirects to the outline.com page for the current article in the tab.

javascript:%20window.location%20=%20"http://outline.com/"%20+%20window.location

DarkCrusader2··on W3C abandons consensus, standardizes DRM, EFF resigns
I do not understand DRM/silverlight properly. Does this means that I won't be able to see what code is running in my browser for eg. JS collecting data in the background or use things like adblocker, greasemonkey etc.
DarkCrusader2··on Sublime Text 3.0
I have been using gitsavvy and it is really good.
DarkCrusader2··on RSS Still Beats Facebook and Twitter for Tracking News
Inoreader is the best. I was about to setup my own Tiny Tiny Rss server but luckily found Inoreader. It has everything I need and more.
DarkCrusader2··on AdNauseam – Clicking Ads So You Don't Have To
One thing I wanted to do was to allow ads everywhere and only block ones with obtrusive ads. That is instead of whitelisting good ones, I would have to only blacklist bad ones. But could find out how to do that with uBlock. Maybe somebody here can help.
