Dahoon··on Raspberry Pi 400 Desktop PC
The US is only a small potion of the world.
Dahoon··on Winamp for Windows 10
Winamp for Windows 10 is called Foobar.
Dahoon··on Danish military intelligence uses XKEYSCORE to tap cables in co-op with the NSA
Couldn't agree more. So many people are so scared of China (the new red scare) but in reality if you did something illegal who do you have to fear more gets their hands on the data: The FBI or some PRC equivalent? There are hundreds of stories of FBI (and CIA) working in other countries but I have never heard of any PRC people kicking in the door of someone outside the PRC.

As someone who has heard my father re-tell the same story at least 20 times of the time back in the 90's when he was out walking his dog near Sandagergård and was stopped at a military checkpoint by soldiers talking American English to him this almost feels like déjà vu. Anyone who used the area knows Americans was there.
Dahoon··on NAT Slipstreaming
Which won't happen in almost 100 procent of devices.

Well, for one OpenWRT is on kernel 5.4.
Dahoon··on 2020's fastest-rising tech jobs? Programming language PHP leads the way
Couldn't agree more.
Dahoon··on Jailbreaking Used Teslas
Any car in the EU that is changed after certification needs to be recertified or have the update tested. The day Tesla updates something that causes someone to get hurt Tesla will be sued into the ground as all software updated cars that haven't had their update tested are illegal. It is also illegal to change a car to make more HP (there's a limit, AFAICR it is at 5%) without getting it recertified. While Tesla don't give a f... about legality some (like me) have been through the process of recertification on way less changes than Tesla does. It is both time-consuming and expensive and the testing was insane. It baffels the mind that none of Tesla's competitors has cried foul yet.
Dahoon··on Photos from inside a Typhoon class submarine
Did you only look at the pictures? One is made to be piloted by astronauts and the other is made from the bottom up to be remote controlled but with the option to pilot it manually. The USSR were lightyears ahead in remote control and robotics in space.
Dahoon··on How to deal with extreme physical pain
In that case it is modern medicine that is woo-woo since we had dietary treatments for serval things before we had medications for it, like for epilepsy.
Dahoon··on FBI, DHS, HHS Warn of Imminent Ransomware Threat Against U.S. Hospitals
If both the insurance and the hospital earns money by raising the price we will get what we have today where insurance covered procedures are more expensive than none covered procedures.
Dahoon··on FBI, DHS, HHS Warn of Imminent Ransomware Threat Against U.S. Hospitals
So war against the US government who is to blame for the 1990's IT infrastructure of the whole health system?
Dahoon··on FBI, DHS, HHS Warn of Imminent Ransomware Threat Against U.S. Hospitals
So should Russia do the same? After all the US did officially declare a cyberwar against Russia. If this ends up being attributed to Russia they have a very real defence in pointing the finger at the US and saying "You started it!"
Dahoon··on AMD Reveals the Radeon RX 6000 Series, Coming November 18th
You need to add Nvidias supercomputer to the screen too then.
Dahoon··on FBI, DHS, HHS Warn of Imminent Ransomware Threat Against U.S. Hospitals
Someone should ransomware Krebs and force him to get a mobile friendly site.
Dahoon··on Nutcracker Challenge: Blob-Free WiFi and BLE
How ironic when a website for a privacy niche product uses browser canvas fingerprinting.
Dahoon··on Gitlab Blocked Iranians’ Access
Can't be worse.
Dahoon··on Gitlab Blocked Iranians’ Access
Did you just call the US patent system "Open"?
Dahoon··on Falling five storeys from a New York rooftop changed my life
Those words match my situation exactly!
Dahoon··on Hackers hijack and publish mental health data of hundreds of people
And I have close, personal, and intimate relationships with mental illness and its medication myself and if you do know so much as you claim you would know that many (as in likely most) physicians today think the future will see our current medications on par with lobotomies. Anti-psychotic medicine especially is seen as chemical lobotomies. On top of that when 1/3 of the US population is on antidepressants these medications clearly doesn't work either.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/out-the-darkness/201...

You might have "skin in the game" but then it is depressing you do not know that almost all mentally ill people would in the long run be healthier without these pills. They mostly only work short-term and absolutely destroy ones health long term. You should be advocating for people to get short-term medically help and long term medicine-free therapeutic help if you really care.

Dahoon··on Falling five storeys from a New York rooftop changed my life
After i was cured from cancer I also got another look on life. One thing I did was get a motorcycle again and I left my girlfriend. Better to enjoy life right now than live in the future (dreaming of when/if). Now I got another girlfriend and know real love and ride motorcycles with her. Wish I woke up earlier though but better late than never!
Dahoon··on How to Live with Dying
Maybe to some. I really wouldn't want to live for hundreds of years. Eventually everything gets boring.
Dahoon··on On Our Abusive Relationship with Mozilla’s Firefox
If the megabar is enough to get you to switch browser you'd likely be better of where you are now anyway. It's such a tiny totally unimportant thing. I didn't even notice it untill I read complaints about it.
Dahoon··on Apple learned automation can't match human skill
And yet if you look at what actual experts, that aren't trying to sell anything are saying, like automotive testing bodies (EuroNCAP, ADAC, FIA, etc) the consensus is that self-driving cars are at least 15 years away. The gap between reality and what salesmen have sold to common people is gigantic.
Dahoon··on Feds may target Google's Chrome browser for breakup
Apple doesn't even support other browsers in iOS. All 3rd party browsers are a skin on Safari. Is that for battery life too or actually an abuse of market position?
