So it seems they have the physical stuff in place but now they're working out on how to do the 'last mile' as it were.
The work sounded really interesting, I did not pursue because I did not want to move to Seattle.
A MS like product that is general purpose or GoPro and others start integrating gyroscopes into their products to take advantage of this similar technology.
The MS presentation really resonated with me since I do take a lot of video from my mountain biking trips but much of it is not interesting or hard to watch. I don't think I'll ever strap my iPhone to my chest so I'd like an action cam setup that can also deliver these types of videos.
In any case, this 'hyperlapse' processing is cool and I want to use it (just not on instagram).
I do give apple maps a try, even recently, however _every_ time I use apple maps it gives me directions I know are inferior or it will put me near my destination but in an incredibly inconvenient spot.
For example: The other week I wanted to find a way to a train station, I used Siri and let it open up and plan via apple maps. It 'found' my destination and placed the map marker at the nearest possible spot (the map did not have the station lot or it's connecting road). The problem was that the closest spot was on the other side of the tracks with no way to cross except take a multi-mile detour.
Just the other day I had to make the same trip, this time I used google maps and not only did have the whole station complex on the map it correctly routed me to it.
I simply cannot trust apple maps. It may be easier to use via siri or safari links but if it wastes my time by giving me crap information than it really is not helping. A few seconds of copy and pasting addresses into google maps app or using it's built in search is well worth not having to worry about taking a forced apple detour.
Anyways, this is a huge clusterfk and a stupid comment and an offhand tweet has cost two people their jobs and stirred up a hornet nest nest of vitriol.
With that being said. I'm all for high density screens in laptops!
So, I like these shirts and happily wear them to my co-working space or around town and to industry meet-ups. I have never paid for one (outside of conf fees) and probably never will.
I might pay for a service that bundled up several shirts from companies I cared about only to cover the cost of shipping and 'time.' But forking over $15 for a single shirt from some random start-up does not make much sense to me.
I already had a career and thought I knew it all but the experience of working on theory and mixing in with some seriously smart people really pushed me to places that I would never have gotten to on my own.
Also I owe much of my current success to the relationships I formed during my time at university.
Like the author I was shocked at how accustomed I was to waiting for an app to become responsive again. I was trained to wait on the OS to do it's business before I could do my work. Now things happen as quickly as I can think to do them, this is how computing should be.
A quick search on this site turned up several options that look superior to the boarding we have been using and at half the price.
Solid business!
