The question of choice between a profitable vs unprofitable venture is easy. But yeah, to what extent is choosing profitable instead of VERY profitable a breach of duty to shareholders?
I'm glad I didn't have to spam the back button to do it.
Oh yeah, and Recall. That worked out well.
With buds, people just shout into the void... Or the bus...
It was all awful.
That said, without experience it's easy to pierce the veil of "simple circuitry" by accident, just like in XKCD: Tasks[1].
Looking at preview of the author's next project at the end of the article, I'm not so sure the same strategy will work. The board is probably two orders of magnitude more complex. Without knowing the circuit details, I see many red flags (randomly placed ics and decoupling, likely wrong length matching, random thick traces indicating lack of foresight on power distribution, backwards connectors, the probably unnecessary use of BGA footprints, etc).
I built a project board nearly identical to this one a few years ago, and this seems about right. I don't think the displays themselves are included in the 130 euros. They can vary a lot in price depending on spec and supplier.
I think that was the last episode I listened to...
"What a great way to train an AI to imitate your voice, likeness and style all at once."
How hard will I hit the ground if it drops me?
I use open models for non work stuff and sometimes I cancel the output because the CoT is all I needed to read.
I remember an AI conversation with Opus 4.6 in which I almost forgot I was talking to AI. I felt happy, warm and comfortable and then I kinda snapped out of it and felt really gross all of a sudden.
Since then, that feeling has stuck with me. I now use it much more like a tool and I keep my guard up.
If I had to guess, models have producing content that is, for most of the population, indistinguishable from reality for at least 6-12mo.
Very few people will watch a video frame by frame to pick up on or check for artifacts, especially in the places most of the population watch video (tiktok, Facebook).
I have no doubt that, just like the fast corrections to 8 fingers, the final edge cases like reflections are being ironed out in future model training.
The building manager made me take it down...
I'm not sure "worked properly" and "as intended" accurately describe this situation.
I deliberately continue to write all my firmware by hand, and will occasionally consult AI for review. I never use AI to write prose for me.
Python is better represented in training data, writing bench software was a bit boring, I get to spend more time where I have (and continue to build) domain knowledge.
Agentic Opus is a nice to have and I get to explore the frontier tech, but if (or when) it's taken away, a self hosted coding model would be fine - I'd just have to dust off my Python skills and it would take longer.
Also, the branding was "Mac OS 9".
Googling this ruined my day
You can assume incompetence for some things ("gosh I really didn't know I should communicate organizational changes more clearly!"), but re-writing history is a deliberate and conscious act of deception.
