It's easier to name the major Linux FOSS projects that DON'T have drama and virtue signaling than the ones with.
If you read the Github comments on System-D, GNOME, etc, it's like watching children bickering on Sega VS Nintendo.
Turns out FOSS devs are humas just like everybody else and suffer from the same flaws.
By the time the cheque comes, your illicit venture either went bust or you built a bilion dollar empire capable of buying the best lawyers and lobbying to walk away clean.
It's a bit late to start shifting now since it takes time. Ideally they should already have a product on the market.
Making confident but incorrect statements is not snarkyness. That's like me saying climate change isn't happening.
It's the painful cost of maintaining backwards compatibility.
For context, I can still install and use Winamp 2.5 from 1999 on Windows 11. That's over 25 years of backwards compatibility. Not something most people need on a daily basis but still very cool.
They seem to have enough to send overseas and to spend on illegal economic migrants.
>Private sector often does not fund projects like these as they have bad return on investment.
Then why does the private sector in the US fund projects like these?
They CAN solve housing because, like you said, they're the ones causing it. They just don't want to because the housing bubble is making a lot of people rich.
- The AI bot costing billions in development, compute and energy who just banned your account based on a false positive
Plus, we first have to prioritize solving more urgent and important topics like affordable housing (WHEN?!), the collapsing pension and welfare systems which is a ticking timebomb, cheap energy, collapsing demographic (see affordable housing), illegal immigration, Putin's war next door, the rise of the right wing (see illegal immigration) before jumping into another pissing contest with the US and China on something that's not gonna help fix the pressing issues we have right fucking now. I don't see how we can recover from this downward spiral when I look at the inactions of our politicians who are just kicking the can down the road and blaming the EU and other countries of the union for their own systemic failures.
Winning the AI race might sound cool but it might also be similar to winning the race to the moon: a cool flex but not super useful to the general population if they can't afford a place to live or getting healthcare in a timely manner. Until ChatGPT can wipe your retired old ass in a care home I doubt many people will see AI investments as being a top priority.
The only one close to UK in Europe is probably Switzerland and France but they too are mostly focused on research in universities rather than pushing out commercial products the way the US is exceeding at. Everyone else is not even in the game.
You can identify whatever you want but society has no obligation to conform to your made uo identity. It's not oppression, it's freedom of speech.
They just pander to gay/trans causes in hopes it makes them more money in the west while censoring the same content overseas also for more money. They're not on your side, they're on the side of capital and Profit.
You can lie to yourself that they're on your side if that makes you feel better but if outing and killing gay people would be profitable they'd do that instead, just like how IBM did business with the Nazis to send Jews to their death.
FWIW, a correction is required here. Oil-modding a F91W will NOT make it a dive watch replacement as the video creator claims several times.
A dive watch is designed to be operated at that depth while the weak o-rings around the pushers on the F91W will give up when you use the buttons. Oil modding on it holds up during a dive as long as you'll never push the buttons, so it's more of a neat party trick for show than anything to daily drive.
