In my experience as an American (32 years) most Americans fight hard for the rich. If you tell someone: "Their rich because their parents were rich." you will almost always be met with resistance and it usually comes from an individual of a lower class. I don't know why it is but that's just how it is. It was amazing to see so many poor people voting for Trump and then when you tell them a few facts about Trump and how completely opposite his life has been to theirs they not only resist it but in some cases get very angry.
Some messes are just too big to clean up. They knew going into the testing that it was going to kill thousands and thousands of natives and effect native people in a terrible way for generations to come but they didn't give a shit then and they dont give a shit now. That's why most of the natives have 6 fingers and 4 toes, are sterile and the land is poisoned and will stay poisoned. You can deny it all you want but if it was not true shit like this wouldn't be so common place. We aren't the only ones and this isn't the only site and it's not just radiation, its carbon, its carcinogens, it's plastic... there is a whole boat load of shit like this that everyone pretends to care about when their talking about it with their husband or best friend but seems to have no trouble sleeping off the next day. What makes us think we can all just act like animals one day and civilized humans that next... I have no clue but that's reality. People ask: "Oh what can I do, I am so small and the problem is so big!" idk but I do know this if you ACTUALLY cared you would figure out some way to help. What's the difference between pretending to care and actually caring you ask? It's simple, doing something about it versus talking about doing something about it, it's that simple, that's the difference. Write your governor, send some money, do anything or just admit you don't care, and do nothing. That's what the US government is counting on you to do and that's why they got away with this and that's why they will get away with similar shit in the future.
Idk, I feel like it's all been watered down. It use to be global warming, now it's climate change... none of the old predictions have come true and now everyone and their mother uses the buzz word to hype up whatever it is their interested in getting funded for.
There are many forms of confidence. For instance, you are confident in your ability to program and so you program more efficiently than say.. someone like me, who is less confident in their programming abilities. So the question you should be asking yourself is: how did you become so confident at programming? I would be willing to bet that practice is the answer. The same is true for social confidence, you need practice. You need to fail so that you can learn. You need to push boundary's so that you can navigate them better in the future.
I would suggest you go join a bowling, golfing or pool league of some kind. Practice interacting with people in an environment where you can be comfortable making a fool of yourself knowing you don't have to come back the next day. I wouldn't suggest attempting to make a fool of yourself, but in the event you do (because you are pushing boundary's) you won't have to worry about it because you don't HAVE to go bowling again next week. So, my advice, practice practice practice.
Couldn't you (or someone) write the code and submit it for approval. I was under the impression anyone could hack on the kernel (fairly new to Linux) and make submissions for review.
This is a classic example of: "Who is responsible for the death, the gun or the man pulling the trigger?" and from what I have seen, most people want to blame the gun or in this case, FB. If someone is unstable you can't blame FB for that, FB didn't make them unstable.. perhaps their excessive use of FB resulted in social problems that lead to an instability but you can hardly blame FB for that.
I don't know about you guys but I am seriously getting tired of people blaming everything and everyone else but themselves for their problems in life.
I could not possibly agree more... There's no way in hell the people who want to break up FB want it to happen for any other reason than money, I just can't buy it.
How is that even remotely the same? If anything that proves my point. Despite massive setbacks that were 100% out of their control the company building that pipeline still got it built in time and under budget...
Yeah... this is a CA problem not a US problem. Had a similar amount of money been given to say... ND or MT to build some other structure it would have been done before the money was ever divided out.
This seems like the equivalent of a man walking up to a homeless person, kneeling and handing the man $5 while his wife takes a picture of the action... Oh! You have an ounce of humanity left in your slowly freezing heart, you want a cookie jackass? Had the top 5% cut their salaries in half and disbursed it equally to the bottom 5% then I might have been impressed but anything short of that and you aren't going to get me to bat an eye.
It's sad, the problem is that the people creating and implementing these tests are doing it because their lazy and ignorant. They know, given a straight-forward interview, that they would be incapable of determining if the interviewee is capable or not. They also want walk-on developers that require little to know start-up/training capitol on their part. They want and want and want and they don't know what their missing with the weeding out process but hey ignorance is bliss right? Right, except when you find out the only people who can pass these tests are people high on the autistic spectrum. People who most likely will not make it through the face-to-face interview process or people who cheat.
That is incredibly sad to hear. I wouldn't hire you based on your inability to adapt and learn new things. You may get through the coding questions but with an attitude like that (without lying) you aren't going to get threw the interview. Not to say that you ACTUALLY wont... I really hope you do but just keep in mind they are looking for more than a robot.
Agreed but as the article noted finding yourself on a broken down tractor during harvest season isn't dependent on having a new machine. In fact, I would argue you are MORE likely to find yourself in that position with one of these new machines.
At least in your position you knew what was wrong, you knew what part you needed and you knew how to install it. These new machines are specifically being designed so that a layman such as yourself can't fix them.
Big AGG isn't stopping there either. They aren't just trying to cut you out. There trying to cut out the repair guys and the suppliers. They want to own everything: the repair shops, the delivery shops, the manufacturing plants... their even trying to purchase the intellectual properties. Truth is no one needs a brand new machine just like no one needs a brand new car or a brand new house, imho.
Not the first time I have heard that and yet I see thousands of machines in hundreds of machine graveyards where old equipment has been sitting for decades collecting rust spread accost the country side. The same can be said about cars and the people who own the old equipment are basically giving it away if not paying people to take it... The problem, imho, is that people actually don't want to be able to fix their machines themselves because they don't want to spend the time it takes to do it. They want to be able to pay a guy to do it for them and even then they complain about the cost or the hassle involved in making that happen. Today's farmers are not the farmers of 20 years ago. They are the same as everyone else, to busy playing angry-birds to learn how to fix a carburetor.
It must not be that huge of a problem because farmers are continuing to purchase the most up-to-date tractors with all the wing-dings, bells and whistles they can afford. The guidance consoles are not tied into the machine and don't care how old the equipment is, so why again do you need that brand new $200k tractor? Perhaps this will be a wake up call. Stop buying new equipment and fix your already existing, already purchased, old equipment.
I also couldn't read the entire article. Just as soon as I thought it was about to end, I eyed over to the scroll bar and saw I was only 1/4 the way through... that was disappointing. Maybe that says something about me but perhaps it says more about the author. Sometimes you just need to get to the point, life is short.
Honestly the amount of people concerned about their "privacy" is shocking... kinda makes one wonder what most of these people are up too, what are they trying to hide? Obviously, some people are just concerned for good reason but I get the feeling most people are concerned because their hiding shit.
If it means that an literate mother of 3 from India can become literate when it counts then Google execs can take naked pictures of me and publish them in the New York times for all I care.
Wait a second, so 15 men who were participating in an HIV study with their partners managed to contract HIV from someone else, during the study, who wasn't their partner??? ?
TBH I dont mind Google knowing all this stuff about me. I like targeted ads. What I dont like is the idea that someone could steal that information from them and use it against me. Soak up as much info as you want from me Google, idc but if you're going to do that than you better damn well be able to keep it protected.
Why do I get the feeling the first people to make it too the moon in the 21'st century are going to be the first people to make first contact with an alien civilization?
I am not sure how I feel about this. So long as I can continue to play without interruption then its all good. However, if they try to force me to pay more I am going to be very upset.
Not having seen the show I can't agree that's it is garbage but personally, I am of the opinion, that if there was even a tinge of doubt in anyone's mind about the possibility of the show inspiring people to end their lives then it should never have been put on tv.
