ChumpGPT··on U.S. Firms Battled a Government Crackdown to Keep Tech Sales to China
Not just Silicon Valley, Texas Instruments still supplies Russia with technology that powers missiles and their development. An article suggested they turned a blind eye to Russian online accounts in their internal systems based in Hong Kong buying all the technology they needed to support missile manufacturing.

It will be quite ironic when Americans are dying from the technology they sold to their enemies.

Thanks for the chuckle...

I'm pretty sure we all know how this ends. The US and EU can't help Ukraine properly, will they help Taiwan with strongly worded statements and meetings? Perhaps send socks and blankets for the first 3 months.

Any country that seeks security needs to pursue Nuclear deterrents. No one should trust the US Nuclear umbrella anymore.

ChumpGPT··on Tesla is now worth more than the next 24 largest Auto manufactureres combined
Approx 180 Billion more and they will be worth more than the entire world auto industry combined.

Tesla builds approx 2 million vehicles a year.

Worldwide production is approx 100 million a year.

ChumpGPT··on Bitcoin miner purchases 112-megawatt North Texas wind farm
I have been told to prepare for the worst. Acquire some backup power because data centers and miners will cause brownouts to outages across Texas during peak usage.

We already have some outages in North Texas during these periods of high heat. Your 800k house turns into an oven when it's 110 outside because of the poor building standards across the state. Without steady power and cooling for 5 months of the year, the state is uninhabitable.

Thank you Gov Abbot for deregulation, it is working just like you planned.

ChumpGPT··on Gen Z's financial angst underlies shift to the right
They export their poverty to the world. They should all stay in India and make India Great Again. Who needs them here....
ChumpGPT··on Gen Z's financial angst underlies shift to the right
Only when it comes to protecting Americans and their well-being. Everyone should have affordable health care, medicine, education, etc. If you can't pay, we ensure you are still taken care of. Is that right-wing?

I have seen good-paying jobs disappear for our youth. Every company I walk into there are entire floors of Indians working. These are some of the biggest corporations in America. These Indians are not citizens but either contract or H1B employees.

ChumpGPT··on Gen Z's financial angst underlies shift to the right
I'm a late Gen X guy. Things were not easy, but I had a way to succeed through education. I was just grateful my life was easier because my parents had done a lot of suffering and heavy lifting to make sure I had a chance at a better future.

I would hate to be a kid today. The majority are going to have it tougher than the last 3-4 generations. No job security, not enough jobs, housing out of reach, Uni too expensive without loans and if you graduate, corporations game IT contract work / H1B's at the expense of kids getting out of Uni.

People want change but, I'm afraid they're going to get, the kind of change they don't need.

Need to make sure every kid who wants an education can get an affordable one and that there are no 3 million H1B's and their spouses working in the USA. India needs to stop exporting its poverty to the USA but, I doubt the politicians will go against their corporate overlords.

ChumpGPT··on Norway's sovereign wealth fund rises to a record €1,700B
What a disgrace that Canada, richer in Natural Resources, has failed to create a wealth fund. All the wealth has been siphoned off to make everyone but Canadians better off. What a disgusting gov we have.

Congrats to the Norwegians, they did it right.

ChumpGPT··on Angry America
>UnitedHealth Group is one of the most toxic and unaccountable companies in America, a $400 billion behemoth that systematically denies care to millions of Americas, was smack dab in the middle of the opioid crisis, cheats the government, surveils its customers, harms independent doctor’s practices, and has executives who routinely engage in what looks like insider trading.

That sums it up for most folks.

ChumpGPT··on Fructose in diet enhances tumor growth: research
Fruit has changed dramatically over the last Century. I imagine there was a time when it was much smaller, less sweet, and only available seasonally. In this new world, we have 24/7/365 access to as much and whatever we want.

There are Cherries along with every type of fruit you could want at Costco today and it's December.

ChumpGPT··on Romania cancels election after systems targeted in cyberattacks
I don't think it's a secret that Russia is paying billions to promote a narrative to undermine the EU and America. The Russian money has been flowing to Right Wing/ Left Wing extremists which would not even have a voice without their support. Fringe groups or Candidates receive millions to promote a narrative that causes a breakdown of society. The Chinese are going about it more subtly in the same fashion a drug dealer would get a client hooked.

The problems the EU faces are the problems every one of the members would face alone. The system isn't perfect and needs constant tweaking but the alternative is being alone against the likes of Russia or China.

ChumpGPT··on Romania cancels election after systems targeted in cyberattacks
TikTok needs to be banned. It is a tool the Chinese are using very effectively and when paired with Russian efforts to undermine Western Democracies, it is creating mayhem in the systems we have grown to trust. There is an all-out war on the EU in an attempt to destroy the Union and drive out American relationships for China and Russia to take over quietly. Brussels is sleeping while the nightmare continues....
ChumpGPT··on Putin Decides That Stalin's Victims Were Guilty After All
His Russia is dying and there is nothing he can do about it. He revels in Russia's history of poverty, slavery, and murder. In 800 years of Russian history, every one of its rulers had only contempt for the population; for this, the population idolized and loved them like Prophets. They were cattle then like they are today.

Russia has not culturally evolved to embrace Greek/Western wisdom. It is still under the spell of the 12th-century Mogol culture of savagery and death as witnessed by its current actions. An Empire of evil and murder that is thankfully destroying itself. With the help of the West, it will likely end up on the dung heaps of Asia where it was born.

ChumpGPT··on Trump picks Musk ally Jared Isaacman to head NASA
That headline is silly. It should be "Trump picks Jared Isaacman to head NASA."

I like the part about how Musk has used his close proximity to the president-elect to discuss missions to Mars and other space exploration matters that could boost SpaceX.

Is that a bad thing? Who else is in the running? So we don't want to go to Mars or the moon in case we boost SpaceX?

ChumpGPT··on History of rat control in Alberta
>I can't think of another animal with that same ubiquitousness.

In Toronto, you have rats, Racoons, Canadian geese, and pigeons. An infestation almost everywhere downtown and throughout the city.

I've seen a rat in Toronto that I mistaken for a Raccoon, it was insane how big it was. A crowd of people waiting for the Subway started running for their lives as it ran toward them on the platform. There is a rat, Racoon, epidemic in Toronto. They are everywhere and I don't think there is an effort to try and control them. As a matter of fact, I think they may be protected by law since I have heard of people almost going to jail for trying to chase away Raccoons with a broom.

ChumpGPT··on How Biden Made a Mess of Ukraine
I see you can infer what I meant.

The war started in 2014, Obama the Picnic planner did nothing knowing full well it was coming. He along with Merkel carried out a quiet arms embargo where Ukraine wasn't even able to buy a bullet from the West while Russia took land in the East.

Trump at least sent Javalins during his term.

Biden took office and also wouldn't support Ukraine. Even after the full-scale invasion of the country in Feb 2024 he didn't want to help. He let Ukrainians sit under 30k shells a day while he pondered if sending them artillery would escalate the situation. They didn't provide anything for 3 months at the start and then they slowly dripped things in keeping Ukraine barely in the game. 6 months for artillery, almost a year for air defense while Russia bombed their civilian population, 1.5 years for tanks, never any F16's but finally ok others after 2.5 years. He was a total failure.

ChumpGPT··on Ask HN: Why is China subsidizing every step of manufacturing?
The Chinese Gov still owns part of the factories (they were once Nationalized). This gives these factories an advantage because profit is not as important as employing people and expanding their catalog of goods. These same companies get credits in the form of payments to sell and ship internationally (10%-15% of the Bill of Lading).

I have dealt with quite a few Chinese factories since 2000 and they have always been able to provide machine goods below the price of raw materials in the USA/Canada. One area their machine shops aren't so great at is screw machines, they prefer to use CNC's for almost everything. I do remember a time when what they made was absolute shit but they got better and better over time as they learned and perfected the process (at my expense..lol)

There is also the chance they already make what you buy for someone else so your business is additional. If your item is unique they will add it to their catalog to sell to others. They are also willing to work at a small loss or break even to gain your business because they are heavily supported by the Gov.

Other countries don't do this because most businesses are private, there are penalties against countries that subsidize industry, etc. For a long time, the US allowed Chinese companies to take advantage of American Manufacturers. They were granted "Most Favored Nation Status" because they promised to buy from the countries that honored it but that has changed over the years and didn't work out as planned.

These days costs for materials in North America and Europe are higher since the Governments don't own steel mills and work at cost. So manufacturers pay more and labor is another big part of it along with energy costs. Everything in China is subsidized to give their manufacturing sector an advantage. It has worked out well for them until now.

ChumpGPT··on How Biden Made a Mess of Ukraine
Like Obama's, Biden's, Blinken's, and Sullivan's Foreign Policy is a failure. Clinton disarmed Ukraine, Obama never helped them and everything Biden and his team did was a year late and a billion dollars short. This entire war Russia launched could have been avoided if Obama had not ignored it and Biden acted decisively in the first 6 months. He leaves the World in a much more dangerous place.

Two takeaways from this. Russia was a mess and America is not prepared for conflict in the 21st century. Our trillion-dollar defense budget and NATO Alliance couldn't meet the needs of supplying Ukraine with what it needed to win this conflict.

ChumpGPT··on Russia's Economy Is Doomed
Kadyrov vs Bekhan Barakhoyev, Suleiman Kerimov and Rizvan Kurbanov says otherwise.

Bakalchuk has agreed to give him a pretty good stake in the company if he can get his half back.

No law, just Mafia....In what country but Russia could this happen....Warlords and Oligarchs fighting over anything they can steal....

Russia is done, you know it. It will end up on the dung heaps of Asia where it was born....

ChumpGPT··on Russia's Economy Is Doomed
Not even Oligarchs. Look at what is happening with Wild Berries. Russia is falling apart and dying and there is nothing anyone can do about it. It was never based on any kind of law and a mafia state. I predict it will be a repeat of 1998 where everyone will lose everything, savings, pensions, investments, etc. Afghanistan ushered in the fall of the USSR, Chechnya ushered in bankruptcy in 98 and the War they started in Ukraine will destroy the country entirely.

What a great time to be alive to watch an Empire of Evil and Murder destroyed.

ChumpGPT··on Should I worry about being targeted in China as a small hardware startup owner?
You're not big enough or important enough to attract attention from the Gov. Depending on your suppliers, you might not be that significant to them either.

I never had a problem with my factories. Good business people that understood my success was their success.
