ChrisGranger··on Value-Null Antinatalism [pdf]
I've felt this way for decades and almost invariably get negative push-back when I raise these points. I've stopped worrying about it.

Is there a more charitable way to read this than "Hamish Kerr is a shameless liar" or... ?
ChrisGranger··on A deadly strain of avian influenza has breached the ecosystem of Antarctica
The fact that the habitat is unfragmented means the virus can more easily spread through the entire population, and not just to more penguins, but to anything else that lives there, given it is affecting mammals too.

You're minimizing this news based on percentages killed so far, when the virus has just arrived and now has unfettered access to those aforementioned 10 million individuals.

It's a mass mortality event because it's infectious, has killed thousands already on Heroína Island and isn't over yet...

Blue Origin has a launch facility near Van Horn, Texas, that was operating before 2022, but I don't know if what you saw was one of their rockets.

ChrisGranger··on TDK claims solid state battery breakthrough
When I commented, the URL was a link to the press release. It was changed to the Ars Technica article later.

Good to know.

ChrisGranger··on TDK claims solid state battery breakthrough
I wonder if this scales up, to batteries much larger than a coin cell replacement.

This is one of my pet peeves. I wish OP (in general) would comment as to why they're posting, what they found interesting. I don't flag these posts, but they do sometimes feel like a lazy karma-grab.

ChrisGranger··on June 4th Incident
Did you intend to link to this?

You've titled your post June 4th Incident, but linked to Wikipedia's list of things that happened on June 4th.

ChrisGranger··on Show HN: How I went viral on social media while marketing my SaaS product
This doesn't seem to fit Show HN's requirements.

> Off topic: blog posts, sign-up pages, newsletters, lists, and other reading material. Those can't be tried out, so can't be Show HNs. Make a regular submission instead.

Lots of posts don't get any replies at all, so it's not like there are a hundred LLM bots just spamming every post. You asked a question that a lot of HN users felt they could offer their two cents on. It's not like "how do I balance my interests?" requires a high degree of technical knowledge that only a select few people could speak on...

I feel like HN does a pretty good job of moderation and responding to user concerns, and bot accounts are banned when they're found.
