Chos89··on The world’s most liveable cities
I can't imagine living in a city where this is not the norm
Chos89··on Ask HN: What keeps you from exercising?
On the flour part we could maybe agree, but telling me that fruit is not good for me is just plain wrong.
Chos89··on Ask HN: What keeps you from exercising?
What is wrong with carbs now?
Chos89··on Ask HN: 8 years working, now 3-4 months off to learn. Looking for advice
I don't think any job/career/being employed (99% of the time) is a right path to "fuck you money", it's mostly entrepreneurship
Chos89··on Ask HN: Is it a good time to buy a new Macbook Pro?
I would like to buy a 4k Ultra Wide monitor at some point, can the Air support it?
Chos89··on How the Arab World Came Apart
How do you explain Bayern in Germany then?
Chos89··on Wasted in San Francisco
Did you try it?
Chos89··on Ask HN: What are the best books you've read in the past year?
A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson
Chos89··on How 'Advantage Players' Game the Casinos
I remember a quote from somewhere: "If you are winning it's not gambling". If you beat the rake and have an edge over the other players it's just a mind game of dealing with variance.
Chos89··on An Unconventional Look at the European Map
I don't agree with your statement but I agree it's not a cause to get downvoted. Russia stretched from the Baltic sea to the Black sea for a good part of history so calling Russia north Europe is wrong imo. And Germany was always center Europe
Chos89··on For first time since 1880s, more young Americans live with parents than partner
I wonder how much it's connected with risk aversion and if it does, does it have any correlation with future economic growth?
Chos89··on How Kosovo Was Turned into Fertile Ground for ISIS
Looking at your table, from 1953 to 1991 number of serbs actually grew, it's just that number of albanians grew at a much higher rate, so their % increased. As to what happened in the next 10 years to the serbian population, I don't know, you suggesting that they were deported by the albanians?
Chos89··on How Kosovo Was Turned into Fertile Ground for ISIS
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Srebrenica_massacre https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosovo_War#Civilians_killed_by... Plus, mass murders and other forms of ethnic cleansing also happened in Croatia
Chos89··on How Kosovo Was Turned into Fertile Ground for ISIS
I think genocide and mass deportions are a good enough reason
Chos89··on Portugal runs for four days on renewable energy alone
If a country spends i.e. 100MW of electricity, how much does it need to be able to produce to be safe when the circumstances aren't favorable for max production? Or will we always need non-renewable sources for this issue?
Chos89··on Ask HN: What are some “must see” documentaries?
The most eye-opening documentary IMO
Chos89··on Ask HN: Where was the security breach made that stole my information?
Thanks for the link, It was a hosting site that was breached. How can it be that they were able to get my password, shouldn't they encrypt it?
Chos89··on Ask HN: What is your favorite startup that you are following right now?
https://airtame.com/ Really looking forward to this. Time to get rid of the cables
Chos89··on The Case Against the Universal Basic Income
Isn't that contradictory? Investing in technology that makes workers more productive would have a result of needing less workers?
Chos89··on Ask HN: Future devices
You mean something like the Surface Book?
Chos89··on Ask HN : What side project are you working on?
I'm starting a web app that would function as a private space. Something like a combination of the facebook wall where you can post stuff that you want to remember, a journal, notes, to-do's, calorie counter plus some more stuff. It will be modular so you can add the stuff that you want to use and remove those that you don't use.
