As for competition anyone who can create a profile page will do, FB, Twitter, I am sure there are very many.

3. A diary to track and list everything work related, this works as a todo list, doodles, project discussions, lists.
4. Evernote for dumping notes from across the web and emails.

Questions on ethics and loyalty should not even arise because companies most often than not make more money per employee than individual salaries. Do they feel guilty?
As for friends you can always keep in touch even after you leave your job.
Finally if this doesn't not convince you, just think of it this way if there were layoffs and your team was under the axe, will your company even give it a second thought about laying you all off?
* At one time I have worked on 4 start-ups at a time
* I have donated Rs2000(Almost $50) to a begger
* I have programming my self and taught my college professors
