Centrino··on Ask HN: How do I get a investor Visa to USA?
The main US visa for investors are E-2 and EB-5. The former can not lead to a green card and citizenship, the latter can. Or, in other words, E-2 is a non-immigrant visa that has to be renewed periodically, EB-5 starts as a conditional green card that becomes an unconditional green card after a few years.

Googling these 2 visas will get you some more information. Take note that the word "investor" in this context does not refer to playing on the stock market, but to actively investing in a local business or passively investing in a professionally managed project. In both cases, substantial amounts (hundreds of thousands of dollars) are required.

You can also participate in the annual green card lottery ("Diversity Visa Lottery"). As a European you have a 1%-2% chance to win in each draw, double chance if your spouse participates too.

Get advice from an immigration attorney in the US or from an emigration adviser in Norway.

Centrino··on Ask HN: Are existing SNS fulfilling the roles they’re supposed to play?
I had to google it … SNS = Social Networking Service. SMP = Social Media Platform/Portal
Centrino··on Is There a Robot Painter?
Painter as in wall painter or as in art painter? A simple google search shows robot painters of both kinds.
Centrino··on Is AM radio dead?
AM radio (called "medium wave radio" in Europe) is still used in Eastern Europe, the UK, Spain etc.

The last AM broadcasts in Sweden stopped in 2010, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%B6lvesborg_medium_wave_tr...

For a full list of AM radio stations in ITU region 1, see https://www.mwlist.org/mwlist_quick_and_easy.php

Centrino··on Why don't unused domains have an expiration?
How do you know they are “unused”? The web and e-mail are just some services on the internet, there are many others, you can invent your own. These services could be on subdomains or hosts that are only known to those who need to know. In other words, the use of domains could be private within a group. Even if this sounds unrealistic, it’s an alibi the squatters could use to escape forced expiration. Only if the Domain has no functioning authorative name servers, could you claim the domain is truly “unused”.
Centrino··on The benefits of an internal knowledge base for a company
That text looks like it's written by ChatGPT.
Centrino··on Emergency SOS via satellite
The article doesn't mention which satellites or which satellite provider is used. But Apple invested $450 million in Globalstar.

> Scarborough on the beautiful Redcliffe Peninsula

I had to google that to discover that’s in Australia.

That’s symptomatic, and my big disappointment in all those copywriters for company websites: you get more information faster about a company by looking it up in Wikipedia than by reading its obtuse website.

Centrino··on Ask HN: What Happened to Keybase.io?
> Not updated anything since

The codebase is still being updated:

https://github.com/orgs/keybase/repositories?type=all

Centrino··on Ask HN: What Happened to Keybase.io?
Just one example of the continuing use of Keybase: the Chia Network uses Keybase Chat as its sole official communication tool for its community. More than 20,000 members and hundreds of messages per day. Why Keybase and not Telegram? Because identities can not be faked on Keybase. Private messaging on Telegram (and on Discord) is full of scams because of faked identities.

Another example of possible use: the Keybase File System, for private or public sharing of files.

Centrino··on Wait a SEC, That’s Not an *RMB* Liquidity Pool
Title should be "Wait a Sec", not "Wait a SEC". It's a second, not the Securities and Exchange Commission. Especially in a post about finance and economics, this is an important distinction that can lead to misleasing titles and make the difference between a click and a non-click. I'm always baffled to see how even the simple copying of a title seems to be non-trivial on HN...
Centrino··on Ask HN: How to bypass root passsw/passphrase in Ubuntu 18 GRUB for beginners?

Centrino··on Coinbase security enhancement prevents withdrawal for 48 hours
There is no timestamp on that page. Is this a recent change? I have whitelisting enabled and the 48-hour mandatory wait for new addresses has been there for, I guess, at least 2 years now.
Centrino··on How is the Dutch government censoring rt.com?
You didn't tell if, when trying to visit rt.com, you arrive at a page with a message about the blocking, or simply a blank page, or you see the rt.com site. In the latter case, it would indeed be a MITM attack by way of DNS hijacking and a proxy. In the former cases, it's not MITM because you never see the content you wanted to see.
Centrino··on How is the Dutch government censoring rt.com?
If the DNS server of your local ISP maps rt.com into an IP address that it controls but for which the server has a certificate for a different domain, i.e. upc.biz, there is a conflict: your browser still has rt.com in the address bar (it is not a http redirect) but it sees a certificate for upc.biz, so it reports a certificate error.
Centrino··on How is the Dutch government censoring rt.com?
Make sure that you don’t use the default DNS servers of your ISP, but those of Google, OpenDNS or Cloudflare. Most of these redirects are done at the DNS level. This could also explain the certificate error, if the cerificate is for another domain than rt.com.

Centrino··on NAPS2 – Scan documents to PDF and more, as simply as possible
I'm using NAPS2 for about 10 years now. It's simple to use, powerful, and it does what it has to do. Only drawback: only available for Windows.
Centrino··on Tech exec used access to White House computers to look for dirt on Trump
Sure, it's ethically and legally wrong, but I was reacting to the "access to White House computers" in the title. But it's understandable that journalists think that monitoring of DNS traffic implies access to the computers that initiate the traffic.
Centrino··on Tech exec used access to White House computers to look for dirt on Trump
You don't necessarily need "access to White House computers" to collect information about DNS queries made by White House computers. Access to a DNS caching server or a DNS provider (like UltraDNS, of which Joffe was the founder) providing services to the White House, would be sufficient.
Centrino··on Show HN: A confusion-free global clock
I'm still seeing it. The short hand of the clock should point to the same letter as mentioned in the textual time, right (which means that the inner dial with the letters has an angle determined by the time zone)? That isn't the case. (my timezone: US Central) https://imgur.com/a/wGvFoMc
Centrino··on Show HN: A confusion-free global clock
I'm still seeing the bug. I see you corrected the github repository, but is the correction propagated to the github.io online demo?
Centrino··on Show HN: A confusion-free global clock
The text says "it's G:0 everywhere", but the short hand of the clock is pointing to P and not G. How come?
