Caprinicus··on EU proposal to clamp down on Bitcoin curb terrorism funding
This is a great idea. The legitimate users will have to find someone to offload their bitcoin to, and since the legitimate outlets are shut down, they'll have to do local, difficult to trace trades. And since the only people buying bitcoin at that point is going to use it for illegal purposes... wait this is a terrible idea
Caprinicus··on Balsillie fears TPP will cost Canada billions
That's not how this works. The TPP is public before it is implemented, it is secret before it is finalized. If a country has the democratic means to stop it, it can do so after it is finalized but before it is implemented. I'm not saying that I like the TPP as a whole or that some countries aren't getting screwed over, but the negotiation process would be fucktarded if it was public all the way through.
Caprinicus··on The Nightmare of Replacing a Battery on a Mac Laptop
I am on the same OS X install since like 2009 that I have gradually updated and transferred. Whereas my windows pc seems to need a new install every time there is a major hardware switch.

Chrome also turns on the discrete GPU for seemingly no reason.
Caprinicus··on Complete LiDAR Scan of England Publicly Available
They aren't effectively using their paper then.
Caprinicus··on MH17 Report
Nobody is blaming them for someone shooting a missile at them, but from here on I am going to check if I am going to be flying over an active warzone beforehand.
Caprinicus··on Winklevoss Twins’ Bitcoin Exchange
Well for a start coinbase is not an exchange
Caprinicus··on Scientists to nudge asteroid off course as practice for protecting Earth
I'm not sure there is a huge amount to be learned from asteroids unless we plan on bringing stuff back with us. We are certainly going to try to do that, and we have also landed a thing on a comet obviously which will teach us much more.
Caprinicus··on Tech companies lobbying for CISA are abandoning their users' privacy
>also unlocked phones and computers when compelled by a court order.

Do you have any links for this?

Caprinicus··on Apple Speeds Up Electric-Car Work
What damage did they think Ive was going to do?
Caprinicus··on Apple Speeds Up Electric-Car Work
Their mechanic wouldn't be able to repair an apple car with all the unlocked hoods in the world anyways. Take teslas as an example. Short of routine maintenance on suspension parts and brakes, regular mechanics aren't able to do much.
Caprinicus··on What a posthumous brain scan reveals about Leonardo Da Vinci's creativity?
Without nukes the cold war would have probably been significantly warmer
Caprinicus··on Bitcoin XT 0.11A
and /r/bitcoin is designed to be completely stupid.

Once something is somewhere it will eventually be everywhere
Caprinicus··on Everyone Has the Right to Mouth Off to Cops
Yes but they said male, which implies that gender is part of the equation
Caprinicus··on To Apple, Love Taylor
Companies very often do sell products at or above cost when a line begins in order to gain market share, while the price to build them goes down over time and they become profitable. She has most certainly taken advantage of this at some point, without knowing it.
Caprinicus··on All Systems Go for NASA's Mission to Jupiter Moon Europa
Sometimes I feel like the aerospace industry is in a race to make the most phallic objects possible. I wonder how hard it is to get a signal through all the ice.
Caprinicus··on All Systems Go for NASA's Mission to Jupiter Moon Europa
Nonsense, just put a chunk of something radioactive at the bottom and let it melt its way through, and then drop it when you get to water
Caprinicus··on All Systems Go for NASA's Mission to Jupiter Moon Europa
Mars is easily the lamest planet in the solar system. I don't understand why we need to keep going there.
Caprinicus··on Passwordless login done right
Well then I'd rather just have a password
Caprinicus··on Samsung is imploding in China
North koreans prefer the iPhone because the logo resembles something edible
Caprinicus··on Elon Musk email to Tesla employee about missing an event to witness the birth
How is that a mistake? His companies both had periods where they barely survived, and now they are driving forces in solar power, electric cars, and private space operations. Had the people there not been as dedicated as they were, some or all of them might not still be here.
Caprinicus··on Why Apple is obsessed with gold: It's all about Asia
Melting the watch won't give you shit, even by jewelry standards, because the gold they use is very light meaning that it is technically of a certain karat while having much less actual gold content. It is great from a design perspective, it is light and strong and just as pretty, but not so good for material worth.

I really hope that they work to offload as much computation to the users phone as possible as more features are added so that one watch can survive multiple iphones.

Caprinicus··on Why Apple is obsessed with gold: It's all about Asia
Ultimately what privacy comes down to a lot of the time is how much information the companies have access to. Even if Google had the same stance towards privacy that Apple does, they would be inherently much much worse just because their entire business model relies on having tons of your data, which is the exact opposite of the way Apple operates.
