CamelCaseName··on Reddit signs $60M content licensing deal with AI company
> worth $60 million on an annualized basis

Reddit is pulling out all the stops for their upcoming IPO and it still amounts to nearly nothing.

Bringing back r/place to juice user count, killing the API, destroying their mobile site, and that's just the start.

That's why they are only planning a "very small float", there's simply no interest.

It seems even at just $5 billion, the valuation is too rich.

The worst case for these airlines is always just a refund for whatever money they took in the first place.

Someone could make a killing making a fake airline, taking payments for flights, and then cancelling every single flight and only refunding the people who fight back hard enough.

Hasn't stopped anyone before.

I'm still waiting for Elon to get reamed over SolarCity. Oh wait, he never will, and will strong arm the company into giving him another 12% of TSLA.

CamelCaseName··on Why it's impossible to agree on what's allowed
The problem most people here are missing is that even if moderators create a rule set that are clear and understood by 95% of people, the remaining 5% will still become an unbearable headache.

Add to this that spaces that are worth being highly visible in will have their rulesets attacked and rules stretched to the maximum, plus the fact that users individually are not worth much, and that most publicly visible moderators are unpaid, and you have a recipe for user misery and moderator indifference.

The solution is to pay your moderators so you can attract higher quality talent and more stable labor.

Or don't, if enough users will use the platform anyways.

I don't think you can opt out of this kind of advertising, and it's important that people en masse don't, because it subsidizes the entire mail system.

CamelCaseName··on Amazon receives FDA warning letter for supplements with undeclared ingredients
Way too late. Way too little. This is honestly pathetic.

Supplements on Amazon have been a disaster for the better part of a decade, maybe longer.

It's painful to see abuse after abuse and little regulatory action.

Except in a very small handful of situations, the best case scenario is that the company pays a small fine.

That fine gets announced years after the abuse, then, that pittance gets litigated down over even more years.

The risk adjusted present value might as well be zero.

Why would any company ever do the right thing?

CamelCaseName··on Qatar Airways Bans YouTuber for Negative Review
Oh. Oh no.

> Women on 10 flights, including five Australians who were on a Sydney-bound Qatar Airways flight, were removed from planes at gunpoint and taken into ambulances on the tarmac.

> Some were instructed to remove their underwear and some were forced to submit to invasive gynaecological examinations for evidence they had recently given birth.

My original comment is above, as many replies indicate, I did not include the context, which is:

> women on planes on the ground at Doha, including 13 Australians, were subjected to the examinations as authorities searched for the mother of a newborn baby found abandoned in a plastic bag in the departures lounge at Hamad international airport.

I apologize for not providing the full context.

CamelCaseName··on Sam Altman returns as CEO, OpenAI has a new initial board
Among the takeaways here is that: Communication Matters. A lot.

It seems like something so obvious. Maybe that's because the leaders of successful companies do it well every day as a prerequisite of them being in the position they're in.
