things don't go so great in the end...
CalRobert··on Nissan's third generation e-POWER powertrain
I think you mean kw. The kWh rating is basically just how big the gas tank is.

That’s astonishing levels of incompetence.
CalRobert··on Where's the Beef?: The lab-grown-meat revolution that wasn't
Me, having recently moved to rural Ireland: “the cows were mooing and wailing horribly last night, were they being slaughtered?”

Farmer Neighbor (not the one with the cows): “oh, no that’s just when they take the calves away for veal”

As a parent I feel worse about dairy than beef…

Indeed. Though omnipresent surveillance and restricted speech is an issue in some of Europe too.

Reality Winner got five years for showing Russian interference in elections, which seems like doing the right thing
CalRobert··on The American Religion of Self-Storage Facilities
All very true, but doesn't change the fact that my dad's house is more than 1000 sqft bigger than mine and when he goes I will have literally no place to put his stuff.
CalRobert··on The American Religion of Self-Storage Facilities
Cheap carbs and starches but expensive vegetables and protein sources.

It’s the perfectly useless goods that are the problem.

That's the one, links seem dead though.

I still miss college radio from my teen years. KDVS had a great Commodore 64 music show…

Agreed

Nerds like trains. A fair few of us live in NL too.

Hell, maybe the Silurian hypothesis is true and past predictions were correct.

I think this is the best we've got - but seems moribund. Relied on finding people's old C:\PRODIGY directories and finding what was cached

CalRobert··on Key symbols we lost to time, pt. 1: The PC side
I think I used it most in the odd game... I recall it may have activated stealth in Subspace (Continuum)
CalRobert··on Key symbols we lost to time, pt. 1: The PC side
Insert is gone? I have it here... though I can't remember the last time I used it. I never found much reason to think "I want to overwrite existing text as I type"
CalRobert··on Global Glacier Extinction Explorer
Right (I grew up in US suburbia) but to people who visit us it feels suburban. Which I hope can help sell the idea that you can have the upsides of suburban life without living in a sea of asphalt.

Public or not 1991 was a very, very, very different time. The idea that some dumb stuff I posted would still be around in 30+ years would have been crazy.

(Actually, I wonder if the Prodigy forums got archived...)

Find a job from climate base, inclimate, etc

A flight can be a few tonnes of carbon. A European might emit ten tonnes a year. It’s pretty significant. For ourselves ( electric heating, well insulated house, no beef and low meat, no car )a flight can be half the year’s emissions.

The VOTE etf could be interesting to you.

Ironically I live in a model of suburban bliss with tons of green space and it works because the houses are mostly row houses (terrace houses, tussenwoning, etc). It’s even easy to be car free here. Houten, NL

I think most people would rather burn the world than have less parking to be honest.

What?!?!? Piñatas are awesome! And as people who emigrated from California it’s usually a fun novelty for the local Dutchies to see (though I see them in local stores now too!)
