Sounds like a story I heard about people sending task rabbit'ers to stand in line at 6am for a "Cronut" at some shop in SOHO.

BryanBeshore··on RIP Good Times (2008)
Hahah. Because "times were different" and the money, well, that just kept flowing in the private market.
BryanBeshore··on RIP Good Times (2008)
In 2008, I was 25 and in NYC. Seeing professionals with boxes full of work stuff, on their last days of work, was the norm. It felt like what I imagined the crash of 1929 and the dustbowl would be like.
BryanBeshore··on RIP Good Times (2008)
Tech has crashed, and is very much in a recession, while the rest of the economy has been operating (decently) smoothly. This said, other parts of the economy are starting to feel knock-on effects of inflation, higher rates, and supply issues.

Things could certainly get a lot worse. 2008 was brutal, though.

BryanBeshore··on RIP Good Times (2008)
I agree with this. Basically the fed 'rescued' the system in 2008 by injecting capital into the system.

However, this 'rescue' became the norm and they decided to continue easy money policy for the next 14-years. Now, here we are! This has been a concern for a long time now.

BryanBeshore··on Y Combinator's Message to Founders
If you plan to move in the next 6-12 months, you are probably better off moving now.

Biggest issue with an injector razor blades (single edge/straight razor) is carry-on traveling through TSA. Apparently they want to keep a monopoly on barber studios at 30,000 MSL

Switched several years ago from cartridges to an injector blade system, and have never considered switching back.

IIRC, virologist have mentioned that this is the usual progression for new mutations of viruses like COVID-19. High vitality and low mortality. The virus wants to stay alive.

Also, part of the infrastructure bill gives $15,000 credit to new EV car purchases (if the manufacturer hires union labor). Musk is fighting this.

BryanBeshore··on Modern Python Developer's Toolkit
pip freeze > requirements.txt

When first learning python and virtual environments, it took me a little bit of time to understand that the virtual environment is basically a clean slate.

The command above saved a lot of time. I’d go so far as to having a set of requirements files ready to go for certain types of projects just to get started.

In 2018 I bought a Jeep Wrangler for $40,050.

BryanBeshore··on Stripe valuation soars to $95B after latest fundraising
How much wealth creation - to people with access only in the public markets - could this company have created if it were publicly traded? The previous generation had great wealth building ability in being able to invest in companies that were growing rapidly in the public markets at a very early stage (think MSFT, INTC, etc.); today too much of this is done in a way that the vast majority of people cannot be part of.

There is a complete disconnect between regulations in the public and private markets. Regulations that make great companies like Stripe pause on going public need to be reassessed.

Perfect timing. I was looking for something just like this. Also, the documentation is top notch.

I'll add one more point to this. Some business executives bring in consultants as a CYA for their boards, employees, etc.
BryanBeshore··on How r/WallStreetBets gamed the stock of GameStop
Shorting a stock 140%+ is absurd. If anything, time and technology (in this case) caught up with the old game on Wall St.
BryanBeshore··on How r/WallStreetBets gamed the stock of GameStop
Possibly. But the chat bots are not purchasing call options that actually have an impact on the stock price.
