BoneShard··on Rsync 3.4.3 has hundreds of Claude commits
Before, there was a chance to spot it (and things like XZ Utils backdoor were rare), now it will be well hidden in the ocean of slop PRs.
BoneShard··on The Last Technical Interview
I came to conclusion that a lot of these interviews just nerds revenge lol (20+ yoe in faangs).
BoneShard··on The dead economy theory
but just imagine the brave new world, where a law firm has super-duper-frontier model and you're trying to argue with it in a court with your latest best local oss model (only 6 month behind the bestests ones).
BoneShard··on Anthropic raises $65B in Series H funding at $965B post-money valuation
"That's the point: just pump the shit and offload it to retail. Yeah, it's less than 1% of the S&P 500, so who would even notice?"
BoneShard··on Anthropic raises $65B in Series H funding at $965B post-money valuation
Isn't it a nice bussiness, pulling 2% from sp500, I wish I could join.
BoneShard··on Anthropic raises $65B in Series H funding at $965B post-money valuation
easy: 1. Shit goes into S&P 500 (pump phase)

2. Shit goes to 0. Your 401(k) invested into S&P 500 takes a dive (dump phase)

3. Retail holding bags (full of shit) phase.

Case study: Tesla, with a P/E ratio in the hundreds along with declining sales and TAM, is a part of the S&P 500 and, consequently, of many people's 401(k)s.

BoneShard··on Bun support is now limited and deprecated
Except it's not vibecoded, it's litteraly the best prompt an LLM can ever get - literal code. If the whole thing ends up as a failure, then it will show that the king is naked.
BoneShard··on AI is just unauthorised plagiarism at a bigger scale
If all ads were like that, I would't have an ad blocker.
BoneShard··on Throwing AI-generated walls of text into conversations
Isn't it ironic? don't you think?
BoneShard··on GitHub confirms breach of 3,800 repos via malicious VSCode extension
If you don't do it for every update, then there is no real point in doing that in the first place.
BoneShard··on GitHub is investigating unauthorized access to their internal repositories
Same (Only some default plugins, and from known sources), and VS code even don't have a html preview functionality so I had to vibecode one (took about 10 mins, e2e).
BoneShard··on I believe there are entire companies right now under AI psychosis
We're trying to outsmart The Genie(a Jinn) now. He will deliver according to the letter of the prompt but not the spirit of it.
BoneShard··on OpenAI is connecting ChatGPT to bank accounts via Plaid
I now think AI is a virus, which infects whatever it touches. Not just software, but the books (there're already slopbooks printed, and I'm not talking about fiction books, but rather real textbooks, history, music, art, etc...). In XX years what can you even trust? We will adapt and get around it, but I'm not yet sure how.
BoneShard··on Twin brothers wipe 96 government databases minutes after being fired
A tool which is supposed to supercharge you - supercharges you.
BoneShard··on AI slop is killing online communities
good, i see what you've done here.
BoneShard··on AI slop is killing online communities
Quora became human-slop-infested trash before it was trendy.
BoneShard··on I want to live like Costco people
I was a coffee snob, but now I'm buying coffee in Costco, you just have to do it online:

https://www.costco.com/p/-/kirkland-signature-organic-ethiop...

https://www.costco.com/p/-/mayorga-buenos-das-usda-organic-l...

I have no idea why do they not sell these(light roast) ones in warehouses.

BoneShard··on Ask HN: Is the Job Market Actually Bad?
They will run a background check listing all your past jobs, with the exact title you had, and start-end dates.
BoneShard··on Claude.ai unavailable and elevated errors on the API
Yeah, and totally missed RAI part, billing, model deployment, security patches, rate-limiting, caching, dead GPUs, metrics, multiple regions, gov clouds, gdpr(or data locality issues), monitoring, alerting and god knows what else while at extreme loads.
BoneShard··on Period tracking app, Flo, found to be selling user data to Meta
a very old story - https://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmirhill/2012/02/16/how-targ...
BoneShard··on AI can cost more than human workers now
>>> Instead of doing a grep | uniq | awk which would give me an answer in 100 milliseconds for free, I launch a prompt to spend 30 seconds on it and will cost some actual money.

I'd argue it will be even worse, you still remember how to do it, next gen of SDEs won't even try.

BoneShard··on Habitual coffee intake shapes the microbiome, modifies physiology and cognition
Well, because I like it, and I like my morning rituals.
BoneShard··on Habitual coffee intake shapes the microbiome, modifies physiology and cognition
I stopped drinking coffee for a month and didn't notice any difference in my anxiety/mood/etc, so I returned to my regular schedule (3-4 large cups in the mornings).
BoneShard··on Windows 9x Subsystem for Linux
not in windows
BoneShard··on Meta to start capturing employee mouse movements, keystrokes for AI training
I stopped doing any personal stuff on a work laptop long time ago, like 10+ years ago. There is absolutely nothing on my work laptop which is not work related. Working from home though helps, I always have my laptop next to me. Same with the phone, under no circumstances I will do anything work related on my personal phone (and yes I do have a company provided phone with MDM and etc).
BoneShard··on What killed the Florida orange?
It was a sad day for me when I realized that a glass of orange juice(or any juice in general) isn't much better for your health than a can of soda and probably even worse than diet/zero coke.
BoneShard··on AI chatbots could be making you stupider
I like how people come up with some analogy (and all analogies are wrong by definition) and then attack said analogy and based on that make a declaration on the original statement. But what if we use a different analogy: basically using an LLM is like skipping the whole learning process - not learning how to read, not learning how to write and not learning how to think, then what?
BoneShard··on Russia's doping program is run by the same FSB team that poisoned Navalny
yeah, low popularity, got almost 30% in unfair Moscow mayoral elections. Go fuck yourself murzilka.
