BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: Who do you support for president of the USA and why?
Romney because I'm a capitalist and appose abortion.
BinaryAcid··on Driverless Cars Get Green Light in California
You should be used to this kind of talk by now. It's the modus operandi of socialism and the Democratic party. Who ever heard of personal responsibility?
BinaryAcid··on Seth Godin: You might as well quit if you are going to be average
It's it, by definition, impossible for everybody to be above average? Wouldn't that just constitute the new average?
BinaryAcid··on Gizmodo asks readers to take photos of Zuckerberg for $20
This is the same Gizmodo that banned stories on kickstarter projects because there's a possibility that it's not legit. Seems a little strange that their now willing to give people $20 for pics like paparazzi.
BinaryAcid··on Google "verbatim" search
Wouldn't putting your search term in quotes have the same affect?
BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: Anyone want a Canv.as invite?
Thanks so much! Recontemplations@gmail.com
BinaryAcid··on A prophet will arise in CS
Definitely a prophet in the sense described. Kurzweil is absolutely amazing.
BinaryAcid··on Bitcoin app rejected by Apple
I wonder if a bitcoin via email protocol/system could be implemented. Perhaps a special mail client could be built directly in the bitcoin client for such a purpose. Then the bitcoin web app would just communicate between individuals bitcoin clients via the email protocol. Just a thought. I really want to see Bitcoin succeed.
BinaryAcid··on Bitcoin app rejected by Apple
Illegal like bittorrent and file sharing? We have seen how effective that is.

Nice try but you make less sense and look more desperate the more you write.

1) There have been and currently are tons of people who believe the bible to be true who are not being threatened with being burned as a heretic. It's obvious that you don't approve but thats irrelevant. Even the statement "They didn't have much of a choice…" doesn't make sense. People don't BELIEVE things out of external coercion. Belief is epistemically basic and therefore not simply controlled by the will.

2) Any sentence that starts off "Religion teaches…" shows profound ignorance. What religion? Surely you know that every overarching explanatory system (worldview) does not teach the same thing. The worldview your promoting right now is a case in point.

3) The philosophical school of Logical Positivism has been dead for over sixty years for good reason. It can't satisfy its own demands.

4) You believe plenty of things without your brand of "proof". I suggest you read Immanuel Kant's Critique of Pure Reason among other things.

5) The Bible does not condemn knowledge. It teaches that true knowledge is rejected by people because they find it distasteful and aborent, not because of a lack of veracity or evidence. Read Romans 1 to see the textual basis for this.

6) Just out of curiosity: When do you think "technology" started?

BinaryAcid··on [dead]
Plenty of sane people throughout history have taken the bible literally. Technology didt start with electricity either. You should show more thought and less venom.
BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: I have a startup idea! What do I do next?
1. Thanks for posting and showing self motivation. 2. You are no where near considering quiting your job so do your job and your project/startup on the side. 3. It's hard to give advice when you give so little information. Who knows if your idea is even tenable. Please give some more info. 4. The usual step is to start working on whatever you have in mind and throw up a site about it to gather some attention. Find a website template, customize it, and keep your overhead near zero ie free hosting. 5. Work hard and be patient. Don't get discouraged.

BinaryAcid··on A retrospective of the first 110 episodes of the TechZing tech startup podcast
As a web developer and dedicated reader of HN, I consider TechZing to be the only podcast worth listening to online. I used to love the Stackoverflow podcast but we know what happened there.

You must see your self from outside yourself and understand that you may be experiencing many things as a result from circumstance and happenstance. You body chemistry could make you feel all kinds of things. You must distinguish between your temporal disposition and the permanent results of other actions. You must be intelligent about your own biased cognitive perspective, no?
BinaryAcid··on [dead]
This is not a good thing. You should give it more thought. This is not a good course of action for you.
BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: How to contact why the lucky stiff
J.D. Salinger did those exact interviews.

BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: How to contact why the lucky stiff
"I think that if _why ever decides to come out of hiding it should be entirely on his terms and up to him when where and how he does it."

Nothing I've said negates that. He's free to accept or reject the offer/request.

BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: How to contact why the lucky stiff
So do you think this holds true forever? Surely it can be done in a respectful way. Whats the harm in holding up a sign saying "Hey _why, if you ever decide you want to tell your story, we would love to hear it." No one is suggesting hiring a private investigator or some other intrusive method. Notice the wording of the question: "...please ask him..."
BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: How to contact why the lucky stiff
Many online accounts are never truly deleted and can be reactivated at a later time.
BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: How to contact why the lucky stiff
_why would have to prove his identity by doing something with one of his online accounts.
BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: How to contact why the lucky stiff
@michael_dorfman

"...if _why wanted to tell people his reasons for disappearing the way he did, he would have done so."

Why so snarky?

BinaryAcid··on Ask HN: How to contact why the lucky stiff
I think this would be an incredibly interesting interview. I bet it would help if Techzing assured him of complete anonymity.
BinaryAcid··on The BlackBerry PlayBook Doesn't Exist
This story just got picked up by Daring Fireball and ZDNet.

http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/blackberry-playbook-ill-believ...

BinaryAcid··on The BlackBerry PlayBook Doesn't Exist
"All RIM announced was a roadmap" Thats not what the CEO said. He didn't say "Announcing the PlayBook Project" or "Announcing the PlayBook Roadmap". He did't even merely say "Announcing the future of BlackBerry". He said and BlackBerry is saying "Announcing The PlayBook" and he walks out on the stage holding the supposed device.
