Bellend··on Why isn’t British ‘sleaze’ called what it is?
The Scots have never voted for the government that has been elected for most of the last 50 year. Boris Johnson is such a corrupt buffoon that the independence movement doesn't have to lift a finger to bolster support.
Bellend··on Some notes on using esbuild
TIL as it's not really something I can say I am an expert on although I am really surprised by the bar height being set by others. Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised when I try some new tooling in the future!
Bellend··on Some notes on using esbuild
The reason I moved away from gulp (v3?) at the time was because I considered configuration (especially an intellisense configuration) really simple as opposed to the god awful pipable javascript files gulp went for.

Not sure how much that plays to my strengths though because everything I have ever used has json file configurations or object file configurations.

Anyway I am definitely going to kick some tires on ESBuild, but I will just wait a while so thanks for some additional insight.

What would be the alternative in todays projects? Like typescript and scss need compiled, then there are builds which are minified with source maps vs local which isn't, then people want browserlist and scss linting and so on. I don't see how configuration can be escaped but I would be happy to have a path forward to change that if I knew how.

> “webpack” which I will not try to explain much because I don’t understand it, I think it’s a system with a million plugins that does a million things

Is webpack really considered such a difficult beast? I was an early adopter of TypeScript so I think I started with grunt, then gulp, then finally webpack 3, 4 and now 5.

I mean it's not my main job or anything, and I don't really enjoy configuring things but spending a handful of days reading the docs once a year or whatever is not really a problem. I have a couple of files, one for local one for production. About 50-70 lines each and considering it is compiling typescript, linting, minifying, scss, testing and so on... I find I get a lot of bang for my buck. It's not like the previous tooling was really any easier to deal with.

The production build takes about 50 seconds, and the local build takes about 3 seconds. It's honestly the least of my problems.

Bellend··on The good things in the current age in tech
Oh man that thing is a blast from the past. It's crazy the memories that come flashing back just from seeing that image. It's extraordinary that my brain hasn't ditched the thing as garbage and deleted it. Must be 35+ years ago. Jesus.
Bellend··on Twitter Blue is now available in the US and NZ
I have been an elite troll since the original doom deathmatch days. I have a true skillset in the arts. Twitter Blue is going to require some serious passive trolling but I have just taken the challenge. If I get banned after paying then I'll be the one that is foaming at the mouth with rage!
Bellend··on Angular 13
There is over 500 applications at google using Angular so it isn't a handful of special cases.
Bellend··on Suspected head of $21B crime syndicate may be world’s most innovative drug lord
It's such a difficult topic. In the very very end, the person has to decide to make an effort to come off the drug. Their pathways are either become a mess (I got nothing to live for) or OD. If that is the option, is some kind of local drug room the only solution? Get everything free here consumed on the premises and we will keep an eye on you over the X days/months/years and try to help you, sectioned upstairs for 3 months if needed?
Bellend··on People who have unusual, or non-existent, inner voices
Hey! I don't know if I have the voice or not. I seen this on a video (Joe Scott maybe?) a couple of weeks ago and I wondered too. I don't know the difference between thinking and inner voice. Like if I am approaching a road, I don't recall an inner voice telling me to stop but I don't know if that is valid as an example.

The question might be too broad but how do you know you have no inner voice?
