Maybe just the wrong ballpark (like 1-10%).

Anthropic cut a deal with SpaceXAI in May - $1.25b/mo. Before that, they employed months of dishonest nerfy strategies, to an extreme.

Are you sure? Based on their marketing video, usually you just have to tell it to swap one of the later slides or photos to put it first. :)

Oh, also you have to tell it those times you want to prioritize your children on your calendar.

This was almost my thought for mitigating USA stamp fraud. Exchange Forever stamps for $currentValue stamps, but show your ID so you’ll be subject to extra scrutiny if you try to trade in a million of them. (QR code’s better and more fair.)

There should be hope for some fields, right? Naively, I can imagine giving an airgapped model an offline copy of the web and once it cures a form of cancer, printing out the details for a researcher to verify.

Tax (not cheating!,) optimization?

(Retract the cheating dig if not applicable. Make it in the first place b/c I’m bummed when folks who make their money thanks to a country’s infra, laws, etc. don’t pay their fair share, at least in those cases when there’s so much you can even give back half and have immense riches.)

Deep fear, backed into a corner. Same with Disney partnering with OpenAI for Sora.

Would be an intriguing calculus thinking they can hurt Western publishers enough to offset the enrichment of generations of thinkers and scientists. I usually chalk up both book and article archive sites as being citizen run.

Thankful to have always been surrounded by top-notch physical libraries, now with digital lending options. I know some are happy when the mobile book van comes through town.

Thanks. Wonder if the gaps (and speed) increase satisfaction and/or even save transmission of a couple communicable diseases here and there.

Succinct summary.

Ooh, “Your Apple Watch is fully charged.” notification on iPhone, that’s nice too. (Can sometimes just charge while showering/etc. and not think about it though.)

> things go smoothly only because the team has a routine built on experience. If you throw a wrench in that and have someone waste time fiddling with m&Ms

Isn’t there variance in how long a venue’s contractual obligations will take to fulfill? One weekend someone needs you to spend X hours coordinating on sound and lighting, the next weekend it’s .5X hours? (Correct me if I’m wrong here if someone knows.) If they get the M&Ms right and they triaged appropriately, seems like a little indicator they scheduled enough people to work long enough to make it through the whole rider.

No cop out here with “oh just tell them you’re ignoring it”, treating the whole doc as a serious thing to get through or they can find another venue that will.

Edit: apparently to even deal with Van Halen you’d have to deal with not three 18-wheelers of gear, max, but three times as many! So you’d need way more hours I bet. Also an alternative that might rub some less the wrong way: some redditor (or liar) claims they’d put something really dumb mistake in their riders and good venues would essentially bring it up first thing.

>MagSafe chargers for Mac do have indicator lights

Since we lost the on-MacBook charging lights (RIP).*

Apple Watch: set watch on charger or tap watch screen to check status. Same for iPhone. Tap AirPods case to see charging light as well.

*Guess I’ve survived without this, but it was a bummer my first Mac without it.

What’s the latest on the roomful of people who read nearly-impossible-to-read addresses? Was dwindling last I heard—mad respect to them. You see some of those envelopes, complete chickenscratch or water damage, and somehow they get them to their destination.

> [increasing speeds would save] about 670,000 hours a year.

Are they the bottleneck? How many fewer/additional injuries would result from increasing escalator speeds? (Do people get good thinking done during their climbs and descents?)

Anyway, using the escalator would mean not jogging up/down the stairs as is my instinct.

Essentially mirroring the original post, but using the fonts of their own [re]design.

I’m rolling the dice myself. No ADP here. If I were a political activist (US) I’d definitely need it.

I guess if I lose my phone on a trip, I wanna be able to walk into an Apple store and restore it from their cloud copy that the feds have backed up & pored over by LLMs too. (not sure that’s done in realtime for 100% of the population, but tokens will be cheap enough eventually - they have their pre-LLM solution too)

I think I keep Signal data mostly out of the cloud though, declining to use their latest features. Hidden notifications too. Is it only personal family updates, yes, but the principle makes me feel good.

I thought they at least used something complex to attempt to prevent non-EU users using third-party app stores. I also recall a legitimate EU user is not allowed to travel abroad too long before losing access to those stores.
