BEEdwards··on Japanese bookstore simulator translated into English after 24 years
Why are you doing work for Kairosoft unpaid?

Like at least put in an applications, your time is valuable.

BEEdwards··on On the Impending Deletion of Charlie Bit My Finger
But considering how trivially easy it is to just reupload the video, unless they plan to play copyright wack a mole, it will never actually be deleted.
BEEdwards··on Freenode ops take control of 700 channels
This is an open space not a walled garden, if i wanted walled gardens i'd be on apple.
BEEdwards··on Before the iPhone, I worked on a few games for what were called "feature phones"
I really want to play the Doom RPGs again, I've never gotten them to work in emulator.

Maybe I should try again with the GC off.

BEEdwards··on Before the iPhone, I worked on a few games for what were called "feature phones"
It wasn't so much that builds with support for it were behind paywall, more that the latest build which supported BOTW more were.

BOTW would still play just worse, then they'd release the next version on patreon and make the last one free.

Now it just runs well.

BEEdwards··on The whole freenode kerfluffle
By that definition there is no such thing as a volunteer...

"You didn't act selflessly, you only wanted to feel good about yourself."

BEEdwards··on Montana to cancel unemployment benefits to address severe workforce shortage
Three things, one they are already automating so wages don't have anything to do with it.

two, I love how you're carrying water and claiming they'd need to raise prices by 100% to cover a higher wage, when the CEO doesn't have share concern.

https://www.restaurantdive.com/news/mcdonalds-ceo-chain-will...

and three in Australia where the minimum wage is nearly $20 an hour, the food prices are only a little higher.

https://www.aussieprices.com.au/mcdonalds-prices/

so your concern is proven by the CEO of the company and reality to be nonsense.

BEEdwards··on DDT dump site off L.A. coast much bigger than scientists expected
Except you know the whole we've known for decades that it's there and done nothing.

Beyond that we have 1344 superfund sites, most created by private industry, now the government responsibility only very little is being done with that either...

BEEdwards··on Roku Warns YouTube TV Customers That Service Could Go Dark
Or build a nice little Plex server built using stuff you have laying around.
BEEdwards··on Suicide rates are rising among U.S. nurses
My wife was a nurse with Kaiser, a nonprofit with a union and she has very little positive to say about them.
BEEdwards··on “My Octopus Teacher” defied convention
I did not like this documentary at all, i don't get the point of it at all...

A privileged white dude complains about how he feels disconnected from his family, so he spends a year harassing an octopus.

It literally tries to run away and he stalks it, it's creepy.

BEEdwards··on CEO of a top Bitcoin exchange warns: crackdown on cryptocurrencies may be coming
And you bought the crypto itself with magic?
BEEdwards··on PayPal launches crypto checkout service
So it does exactly what paypal already does only with more steps and volatility...

AH crypto don't ever change or do you're a fucking waste.

BEEdwards··on Only Google is really allowed to crawl the web
If you make an awful website that can be scrapped it's a matter of when not if someone will take your data and give it to your consumers whether your trying to upsell them or not...
BEEdwards··on Why inflation is not a threat
Know what happened earlier?

Congress lost secret voting,

https://www.congressionalresearch.org/Jumbotrons.html

I'm more of the opinion that our problem is hyper targeted lobbyist money...

BEEdwards··on Killing TurboTax
I've used FTU for the last 2 years and it's all I need, it has all the forms easily searchable and you just next next finish your taxes basically.

There isn't a need for anything else...

BEEdwards··on A new chapter – full-time working from a van in a forest
Just lie.

Use a friends address...

BEEdwards··on Taking a Stand in the War on General-Purpose Computing
It looks good on paper and then in the real world people go "those guys that look different than you, they're the cause of all your problems and we should kill them/let us set up camps to kill them so you don't have to see it."

That's what history has shown again and again.

If you give free speech to people and groups who's express goal is to take away the power and speech of others they unironically will...

The paradox of tolerance isn't some other world hypothetical it has been demonstrated again and again.

BEEdwards··on Taking a Stand in the War on General-Purpose Computing
Umm.. white nationalist tried to pull a coup a month ago.

It's just possible that maybe, just maybe some speech isn't compatible with democracy...

BEEdwards··on Umberto Eco: Ur-Fascism (1995) [pdf]
>This is a bit ironic, no? He's amalgamating aspects of different cultures into a generalized descriptor of a culture that's still being referenced decades later.

It's not the amalgamations, it's that that is the end of it.

To create an illustrator straw man

They say: All knowledge is already written and we just need to recombine it in new ways.

You say: Ah but here is a criticism of that, using new or different sources

They say: Those don't count we know all we need to know, everything know is already written.

BEEdwards··on Multiple Beverly Hills PD officers now weaponizing copyright against streaming
No one wants to hear your shitty music, get headphones.
BEEdwards··on Israeli startup claims Covid-19 likely originated in a lab, willing to bet on it
You can't prove a negative though.

The burden of proof is on them.

BEEdwards··on YouTube will now show ads on all videos even if creators don’t want them
But they're not giving it away, they're harvesting massive amounts of information even off of videos without ads.
BEEdwards··on Why Are We Living in a Golden Age of Historical Fiction? (2019)
Aren't we going through a golden age of all types of fiction right now?

I'd say it's about individualized discovery and recommendation allowing the balkanization of interests.

BEEdwards··on The FBI Team Sent to ‘Exploit’ Protesters’ Phones in Portland
you know they literally snatched innocent people off the street right? calling them criminals isn't just a stretch it's propaganda.
BEEdwards··on An Unprecedented Attack on Press Freedom
They were heros until they picked sides.

They picked sides because the FSB threatened to kill them, so it was a good call for not dying, but it does entirely invalidate their mission.

BEEdwards··on Escaping the Dark Forest
You and I came to different conclusions from the same idea.

I came out thinking why anyone would fuck with this gameable broken system, the more i learn about cypto the less I think of it.

BEEdwards··on Amazon’s Alexa for landlords is a privacy nightmare waiting to happen
Are you blind?

That wasn't rhetorical, the only person I know who owns and uses one regularly is a 80 year old blind lady.

BEEdwards··on PayPal is currently blocking all transactions containing the word “tardigrade”
Key word blocking is the dumbest thing ever, arms dealers used it for some transactions, okay they'll just use a different code word, but now people legitimately using tartigrade are boned.

When they ban the new code word, they'll just switch again, once again screwing over the legitimate users of that word.

its wackamole only stupider because at least wackamole at the arcade gives you prize tickets.

BEEdwards··on Kindle collects a surprisingly large amount of data
Why buy a kindle at all then?

Any cheap budget tablet can read ebooks and stay off the internet.
