Arkid··on AGI is an engineering problem, not a model training problem
It is an approach problem. You can engineer it as much as you want but the current architectures wont get us to AGI. I have a feeling that we will end up over engineering on an approach which doesn't get us anywhere. We will make it work via guardrails and memory and context and what not but it wont get us where we want to be.

Logistic regression is a really good method and takes time to get right. But it is indeed one of the most performant models in multiple companies

Arkid··on How Apple badly messed up with in-app purchases on Lion and didn’t tell anyone
Exactly the way Google treats customers when it messes up. Google, Apple and all these big silicon valley companies suck at customer service.
Arkid··on How Facebook is losing it's essence?
Point taken. The title of the post has been updated.
Arkid··on How Facebook is losing it's essence?
You can unsubscribe from the celebrity news and stuff but your friends will end up sharing as they would have subscribed to the celebrity junk. You can't do much about that.
Arkid··on How Facebook is losing it's essence?
A lot of people will gradually leave because of such junk.
Arkid··on How Facebook is losing it's essence?
Yes, but getting all celebrity junk into the timeline would sort of kill all the fun. It may just go the myspace way.

Arkid··on HTML 5 - audio codecs, h.264 licensing issues - Part 2
Completely agree with you on this. However, Google's removal of h.264 support is a very interesting move. Possibly because of infrastructure issues but with so many iOS supporting h.264, youtube may need to support h.264.
Arkid··on How will Google make money from Android?

Arkid··on How will Google make money from Android?

Arkid··on Yes - The Post PC era has started and why I doubt the PC World report
The post PC era has just arrived. iPhone 5 will have over the air OS upgrade. Music on the cloud is coming soon too.
Arkid··on Post PC devices - Really?
The point is that even the overall sales of laptops has to go down as people have more options.
Arkid··on Post PC devices - Really?
As you mention in your post "As far as the entertainment consumer segment (particularly those who are on desktops) goes, a tablet makes more sense for them than a laptop. " That is a huge segment of the population. So, if that segment goes missing or even partially goes for tablets, the total number of PC's shipped will go down in a big way. Atleast, PC sales can't grow from here. Also, as the tablets become more and more powerful, one should be able to run more memory intensive applications. I have seen a couple of people around me whose overall PC usage has gone down drastically after owning a Galaxy S2 or iPhone. Not is disagreement with your points but I must say that if we are not yet in the Post P.C era, we are fast moving towards one.
