AnonMO··on AMD Alveo V70 AI inference accelerator card
In the time it took you to write this you could have searched your two question on google clicked the first wiki link and got your answer
AnonMO··on TSMC starts volume production of 3nm chips
They are currently just under $50 billion and have bought back $130 billion+ in shares since 2018 I would most if not all of their reserves went into buybacks.
AnonMO··on Paper-Thin Solar Makes Any Surface Photovoltaic
I think they linked the wrong company. Then one talked about is based in Massachusetts and the one linked is Italian. One founded last year the other like a decade ago
AnonMO··on Apple Reports Fourth Quarter Results
And they say money doesn’t grow on trees.
AnonMO··on Ask HN: Is the world going to shit?
What does building end to end even mean? If i go to china and ask a factory work if they know how to produce the semiconductor in the iPhone they’re assembling will they know? If I go to any major city and ask someone to grow me wheat or corn can they do it successfully? Different people specialize in different things. Maybe a fullstack developer is what you're looking for lmao. This isn’t the medieval times the world and the tools we use are complex we’re not making swords anymore even back then then moat blacksmiths didn’t mine for minerals.
AnonMO··on Brex layoffs
The percentage you see flying around doesn’t include people who aren’t actively looking for jobs u-3.if you include them it goes to 4.4 go to bls.gov and find alternative measures of labor underutilization. Its not undercounting just different levels/definitions of unemployment qualifications
AnonMO··on Pentagon Puts DJI on Blacklist
i'm honestly surprised dji never moved to singapore when basically all their revenue comes from the US consumer drone market.
AnonMO··on Intel announces new FPGA families
Cyclone V is 28nm so it should be outclassed by a new product offering in 2022 thats manufactured at a better node right? i'm not saying its a bad design, but that product is not a competitive offering. this new family from intel is on intel 7 node which is at scale intel can eat node prices to stay competitive. intel will probably price this competitively with its cyclone v offering if that happens intel will eat the market share of xilinx and lattice unless they announce something new.
AnonMO··on Intel announces new FPGA families
Competitive in what sense? in which market outside of china? Cyclone V a decade old platform offers similar capability and is a tested platform.
AnonMO··on Zero Trust SIM
If your phone can scan qr codes you can use esim its pretty easy at least in my experience. I unlocked my phone when i was traveling to Kenya grabbed an esim for a couple cents when i landed and was set up in seconds.
AnonMO··on Zero Trust SIM
And 1 year ago figma said they don’t want to be adobe.
AnonMO··on Military drone swarms and how to combat them
My comment wasn’t this serious but I don’t think any munition that can damage an aircraft carrier will be that cheap. Also im no expert but with more energy isnt the distance at which the heat from the laser remains effective becomes longer right? So if the tech is truly mature isn’t 20km a bit naïve also what if each laser system is an array of lasers with independent movement maybe 10-20 laser per system this configuration will definitely out power drones at the scale you speak of. The future is hard to predict.
AnonMO··on Military drone swarms and how to combat them
So Lockheed recently showed video of its laser weapon. as the technology matures I assume energy consumption will drop, and intercepting drones or anything is no longer limited by number of misses, drones, or ammo but energy. Imagine nuclear aircraft carriers pumping an indefinite amount of energy at least in the short term into multiple lasers basically creating an energy barrier around the craft.

Not a laser expert btw.

AnonMO··on Usage of EU subsidiaries of US cloud providers deemed unlawful by German court
That wasn't your comment you said the nordic countries discovered more periodic elements the US. My response was going to be since your grouping the nordic countries the the uk and us would also have to be group because of historic relation between the uk and us specifically the us is some degree was a colony of the uk. With that being said the two combined have discovered 45 elements almost split evenly between the two in comparison to the nordics 25. Also its not a chicken and egg problem unix came to fruition without linux, but linux would never have existed without unix especially if Linus Torvalds had never came in contact with unix at university. Linus Torvalds thesis goes in detail about relation between the two.
AnonMO··on Usage of EU subsidiaries of US cloud providers deemed unlawful by German court
My point is at the end of the post. also why do you keep deleting your comments? i had such a good response to your periodic table nonsense lol.
AnonMO··on Usage of EU subsidiaries of US cloud providers deemed unlawful by German court
you are correct a foreign government should not rely on another foreign government for government related technologies, but the reason this even went to court is because one company couldn't compete with another for contracts so they played the legal card if i understood the summary correctly. This shows there's a lack of technological capability/capacity within the EU asif its actual rocket science to host computed services. Aslo do you think about your data? because this is a US service and if remember correctly its hosted on M5 both US services. so you using it shows you aren't thinking about your data because this site is a data trove upvotes, comments, posts, etc. The US government could easily subpoena for all your data and cookies related to this site and build a profile.
AnonMO··on Usage of EU subsidiaries of US cloud providers deemed unlawful by German court
They also use google analytics which i remember reading a couple weeks ago has ongoing issues with the eu.
AnonMO··on Usage of EU subsidiaries of US cloud providers deemed unlawful by German court
If you're talking about linux an operating system based on unix from bell labs. then it just an operating system created by a European which is based on an operating system created by Americans. without one the other wouldn't exist.
AnonMO··on Usage of EU subsidiaries of US cloud providers deemed unlawful by German court
Says the person using hacker news whichs legal notice has no mention of adhering to gdpr. stop threatening and do it simple and effective.

AnonMO··on Japan, U.S. to launch R&D for 2-nm chip mass production
https://newsroom.ibm.com/2021-05-06-IBM-Unveils-Worlds-First...

Tech is there not scale.

AnonMO··on Japan, U.S. to launch R&D for 2-nm chip mass production
Honestly to me all these comments are wrong and focusing too much on the 2nm aspect and not the possible r&d outcomes. EUV come to fruition because of r&d research between the US and other countries/companies. TSMC might be the largest foundry but a majority if not all of their tooling is from the west and japan; from ASML, AMAT, Lam Research and others. Best believe some acquisitions will happen especially on from the US side and new tech will be coming out probably some sort of EUV replacement.
AnonMO··on Micron's 232-layer NAND enables 2TB flash chips that deliver data 50% faster
Why is micron constantly first to market with new high density nand, but their market share doesn’t reflect their progress. Unless I’m miss informed.
AnonMO··on Most Americans think NASA’s $10B space telescope is a good investment
Its not rare per se NASA expects an impact about every month. this one was larger than their calculations, but that "significant uncorrectable damage" won't affect the pictures or the scientific work. also all damage to the telescope is uncorrectable due to the location of the telescope. If you read NASA report and not sky news which doesn't even link the report you would know.

AnonMO··on James Webb first images – complete set of high resolution shots now live
LUVIOR is not web. Web doesn't have articulation like LUVIOR its fixed only the mirror segements move. also they don't rorate everytime they take a picture there's limitations beacuse its an infered telescope. https://jwst-docs.stsci.edu/jwst-observatory-characteristics.... Web also has a field of view 15x hubble
AnonMO··on James Webb first images – complete set of high resolution shots now live
It took like 5 months to cool web to operational temperatures rolling the telescope would create so much heat all new images would be useless until it cools down again.
AnonMO··on First flight of the Airbus A321XLR with up to 4700 NM range
Why would an airliner purchase and EUV machine? Unless you know something I don’t. Delta 4nm process node coming to a chip near you.
AnonMO··on EPA raises amount of ethanol that must be blended with gas
Global imo not the USA. US is not a net importer of food, but an exporter. Most of the imported food can be grown in the states also three of the top four food imports to the US are used for/are beverages i.e. wine, coffee, and malt beverages. Also the reason why so much money went into ethanol research is because of the massive corn wastage that happens every year. Maybe the US should crank up food export, but demand is for wheat not corn.
AnonMO··on Lidl’s parent company launches cloud unit to offer ‘Made in Germany’ AWS rival
The Chinese government has forced plenty of US companies to move data local from apple to tesla. Also a vast majority of tiktoks revenue comes from the US to this day, they can’t afford to lose it. unlike with india and probably every other region they operate in outside of china. It’s also not brazen as the two countries aren’t on best terms atm.
AnonMO··on Cloud TPU VMs are generally available
Google cloud is part of a company called alphabet which also own a little tool called google search you should try it. it’s very handy. Also if you don’t know what a tpu is the product probably is targeted at you
AnonMO··on GraphQL Is a Trap?
