Allvitende··on Ask HN: Who else got fired today?
Hm. Yes, it actually does. It's just a nice way of putting it.
Allvitende··on Facebook to acquire CTRL-Labs, a startup for controlling computers with the mind
Agreed. If they were smart, they would break themselves up as Alphabet did in preparation for future investigations etc.

They could then acquire companies more "quietly".

Mark should also take a page from Larry's book and transition to the background more while lettings someone else run Facebook.

Allvitende··on Stripe’s new funding round values company at $35B
Congratulations to the Stripe team. Truly great product and company. The fact that WeWork truly thought that they were $12B more valuable than Stripe is insane to me.

Allvitende··on YouTube to Remove Thousands of Videos Pushing Extreme Views
Why do you think it's right for you to tell someone what to do with their property?
Allvitende··on U.S. Navy drafting new guidelines for reporting UFOs
So you think that nothing should be done about it at all? It definitely seems like there should be a plan to at least assess the situation.
Allvitende··on Tesla Posts Big Quarterly Loss as Its Electric-Car Sales Lag
Can you provide any documentation of this being the case? Because here is Tom Mueller, Co-founder of SpaceX and designer of initial Merlin rocket engine saying that is not the case.

Allvitende··on Tesla Posts Big Quarterly Loss as Its Electric-Car Sales Lag
Just want to say that the amount of hate Elon gets on HN is really interesting.
Allvitende··on YouTube’s Product Chief on Online Radicalization and Algorithmic Rabbit Holes
Couldn't agree more.
Allvitende··on Internet Vulnerability Takes Down Google
No idea if there is correlation but something is definitely not being discussed.

Allvitende··on SEO Advice from SurveyMonkey [audio]
Digital marketer here. This is spot on. Brian Dean's "Sky Scraper Technique" is quite effective as well. Neil Patel's blogs[1][2] are also extremely helpful.

Allvitende··on Apple becomes the first $1T company
>Warren Buffet for some time said that he thought Apple was undervalued. I have no idea what he currently thinks, but it is probably still a reasonable value.

He currently owns ~5% of the company.

Allvitende··on The radical idea of a world without jobs
No. Work is a hobby for me. I enjoy the process of working, progressing, doing something. I don't really have any other hobbies that I wish I could be doing all day. We have to have something to wake up and do everyday, otherwise life is very boring and just a waiting game until the end of our days.

If people don't enjoy their work, their mission should be to keep looking until they find something that suits them. It's worth the effort finding something that you enjoy doing everyday.

Allvitende··on I Almost Left Tech Today
This is a reflection of your coworkers not an entire industry.
Allvitende··on Jeff Bezos Surpasses Bill Gates as World's Richest Person
Great reads. Thanks!
Allvitende··on How Uber Backers Orchestrated Kalanick’s Ouster as CEO
While I do agree that the culture at Uber was toxic and ultimately Travis was to blame for that, on a human level I do feel for the guy. At the end of the day, he just lost his mother and now also his life's work for the foreseeable future. And damn that must suck.
Allvitende··on Launch HN: Py (YC S17) – Learn to Code on the Go
Just signed up. I really love this idea. Keep up the great work! UX is very good. Feels like Duolingo for programming languages.
Allvitende··on Autonomous Ships
Look into flexport.com they already do this.
Allvitende··on Launch HN: FloydHub (YC W17) – Heroku for Deep Learning
I think you said it yourself, "We have a dedicated engineering team who take care of this". I assume the goal of Floyd is to eliminate the need to build such teams and reduce cost of this type of effort. This indeed seems to be the goal of most SaaS/PaaS startups.
Allvitende··on Elon Musk on How to Build the Future
Humanity moves on its way naturally because it is made up of individuals. If none of those individuals did anything useful or never "moved mountains", humanity would never move forward or progress.
Allvitende··on Show HN: TOP.ST – Get the news before it starts trending
Good stuff. Been looking for something like this for a while. You plugging into all their APIs or are you scraping?
