AlfeG··on Git 3.0's upcoming SHA-256 default will be a costly mistake
Even if it costs zero to create. How do You force people to pull from Your repo?
AlfeG··on America.gov
They already do. Look for top comments from commenters that require exact historical answers
AlfeG··on Claude Opus 5.5
So it will not usable to do anything with hardening Your own site.... I'm so tired of this. I just want adjust cookie behavior of own site...
AlfeG··on AI-generated posters don’t have to be horrible
> they can tell they’re AI and point to things that the AI did “wrong” and a human artist would do better.

Pretty much all of the designers we contacted recently were using AI to draw. Especially on those kinds of cheap work. They are just a bit more professional in the prompting and can do final touch in Photoshop.

AlfeG··on Replacing Pull Requests with Delta
And end up with 3k lines of code + conversation history?
AlfeG··on No Man's Sky Cosmos
Because most of the new feature are not connected to each other. Take a gravition coil. It's like in Half Life - but You can only use with very limited set of objects, that were added in same update as gravition coil. Make it useless and not fun...
AlfeG··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
Yep. Fable implemented 2FA login. Declined to review own code in same session.
AlfeG··on Harvest hikes bills by 1500% after purchased by Bending Spoons
Octopus Deploy year ago raised our payment from $50 per month to $15000 per year with 3 years in advance. We were able to agree on only a 1 year. This year we with use of 200$ Claude sub - created a "clone" of Octopus for our own use. No more payments to Octopus =)
AlfeG··on Unlocking a locked/deactivated e-waste Cricut Maker
> So don't do that, unless you're like.. idk terminally ill and die tomorrow or something like that.

Or You are from Iran, Russia or North Korea and you don't care much USA laws.

AlfeG··on The Open Source Maintenance Fee for Polly (Dotnet)
Ha, seems to be yet another extortion.

Will run today a task for Claude to remove Polly from codebase.

AlfeG··on A Preview of DuckDB v2.0
Realtime full MSSQL database mirroring into DuckDb to do a complex reporting. Everything is in-process. DuckDb database mapped to temp storage and recreated on app restart. Still order of magnitude faster then doing a direct query over MSSQL Server (2ms vs 40+ seconds on same query).

Some devs in team still cannot believe that there is no cheating, that it's possibe, that some 60Mb DB can do queries faster then MSSQL Server with just around 250Mb+ of memory overhead.

(.Net 10 + DuckDB.NET package)

AlfeG··on Maximizing the value of your Claude Code sessions
I tend to do code review in separate session. So that context is not affecting judgments.
AlfeG··on Delta
I use caveman to handle this. Not because to I want to spent less tokens, I want to spent less time reading.
AlfeG··on Launch HN: Screenpipe (YC S26) – Record how you work and turn that into agents
Were not able to login - because You used github auth without browser interaction. Passkeys are in bitwarden in Chrome...
AlfeG··on US gas prices hit an average of $4 a gallon again
> already ran out of gasoline

A bit of exaggeration there.

AlfeG··on Anthropic apologizes for invisible Claude Fable guardrails
It's soo annoying. I were not able to use Fable5 to do a PR review of a branch that introduced 2FA/MFA feature for a product. It's constantly downgrades to Opus due to Cybersecurity risks...
AlfeG··on Restore full BambuNetwork support for Bambu Lab printers
In the issues there is a link to another repo: https://github.com/danielcherubini/fork-a-slicer

Wonder how Bambu can prevent this kind of forks, where no code - just instructions to AI on how to build a network plugin from scratch.

AlfeG··on K3k: Kubernetes in Kubernetes
Closely related in pupopse, yes. Branded? no.
AlfeG··on Where the goblins came from
And there is no "censor" in the USA models at all!
AlfeG··on Measuring Claude 4.7's tokenizer costs
At this point, I still don't see a reason to use Opus. I'm happy with Sonnet's performance for a third of the price. Tried several times with not a big gain.
AlfeG··on Google details new 24-hour process to sideload unverified Android apps
I wonder how this will help combat scammers. Do you really think they don’t have $25 for a fee?

Furthermore, this verification system also functions as a US sanction mechanism—one that can be triggered against any entity the US decides to ban.

AlfeG··on Microsoft open-sources LiteBox, a security-focused library OS
Like needing to store IDE specific files?
AlfeG··on We tasked Opus 4.6 using agent teams to build a C Compiler
> The problem is you may pay $20K for gibberish, then try a second time, fail again, and then hire humans.

You can easily pay humans $20k a day and get gibberish in output. Heck, this happen all the times. This happens right now in multiple companies.

Yes sometime humans produce nice code. This happens from time to time...

AlfeG··on Parental controls aren't for parents
Same goes for the Google Family Link. There is no way to prevent kid accessing Google Play Store and spam You with requests...
AlfeG··on Kids who own smartphones before age 13 have worse mental health outcomes: Study
Because it's id?

I mean slug is not important - id - is. https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Family/eating-carrots-make-childr...

AlfeG··on .NET 10
NHibernate project stumbled upon much bigger break: https://github.com/nhibernate/nhibernate-core/issues/3651#is...

We force to use this workaround for now.

AlfeG··on American solar farms
Because they are not silent. Or sometimes are not. Inverters do have quite large fans.
AlfeG··on Vite+ – Unified toolchain for the web
For us non stable things were sass and Tailwind. Lost a lot of dev work just to upgrade those with no visible benefit at all.

Everything else is smooth and silk

Ohh, yes eslint 8 => 9 migration were also a big pain to handle.

AlfeG··on Why Self-Host?
Not as click click click, but still awesome - copyparty
AlfeG··on Why drinking coffee in Iran has become so complicated
This is my problem in every situation.

Want a car? Here are thousands of options. Want a fridge? Good luck in market research. Want a TV? Nope, I will not help. Too many variables. Bottle of water? Here are hundreds of options. Let's guess why one bottle can cost x100 times more than another.

Sometimes I just want simple things ... Like to drink a cup of coffee.

In my student time. There was a shop where we bought "Beer", "Cognac" or "Vodka", with corresponding simple labels. No trademarks, no info on producers. Very easy to choose.
