Hi there! I'm Alex. I currently work as a VP of Product Management at Two Sigma in NYC.

Before that, I was a Product Lead for a team responsible for funnel & efficiency optimization at Uber Eats. Prior to that, I worked as Senior PM for the Project Turing effort in Bing, helping build the next generation of enterprise search technology, powered by deep learning.

I started my career by doing a 4-year stint for an early-stage venture capital firm, and led product development at a mobile gaming startup that I co-founded.

I hold MBA & MS in Design Innovation degrees from Kellogg School of Management & McCormick School of Engineering at Northwestern University, and also a combined BSc/MSc in Mathematics.

Outside of work, I enjoy taking pictures and writing, among other things.

"I am interested in the field of Product Management. However, I hear PMs spend most of their time working with Eng/DS, and thus need to be quite technical. Is this actually true? I don’t think of myself as a very technical person, so this keeps me worried."

This is one of the most commonly asked & perhaps the most misunderstood questions about careers in Product Management, in my opinion.

The short & definitive answer to this question is a resounding ‘No’, you absolutely don’t have to be technical to be a successful PM. That being said, there are a lot of nuances worth exploring here.
