AjJi··on How to learn bootstrap(CSS framework)?
Start a project, learn as you go, you don't have to learn everything, you don't need to.
AjJi··on Ask HN: What other problems or purpose is Google Search solving for you?
calculator, timezone & currency conversions
AjJi··on Ask HN: Why US tech companies asking for work permits from remote freelancers?
FYI, your careers link (footer) is dead, it leads to /interviews instead of /interview.
AjJi··on U.S. To Seek Social Media Details from All Visa Applicants
FWIW, the Dota2 International[1] for 2018 will be held in Vancouver this year, all previous editions were in the US.

AjJi··on A Message to Our Customers about iPhone Batteries and Performance
Not necessarily, I'd rather have my phone die at 40% or something, at least I can investigate then, and replace my battery. In the other hand, throttling my system and hiding it from me...
AjJi··on Ask HN: How do I get $2.2M dollars?
To get through the interview process. Their interviews are a bunch of algorithm questions, and data structures is the starting point.
AjJi··on Screen sharing in Slack, made interactive via Screenhero acquisition (YC W13)
zoom.us allows remote controls, it worked fine the couple of times I've used it.
AjJi··on Ask HN: What web framework do you use? Why did you choose it?
Would be curious to know more about your experience, I mostly use CakePHP, and have minimal experience with Symfony 2 and Laravel, but I always go back to CakePHP.
AjJi··on Ask HN: Is there any accreditation body or credential for online news sites?
I think the first question to ask is, what is a "legitimate news source"?
AjJi··on Ask HN: Best Practices for CSS in a Modern JavaScript App
LESS compiled to CSS, mainly use it because it looks better and I don't have to deal with selector weight, also variables are helpful for colors - and some mixins here and there when necessary
AjJi··on Ask HN: What would you use to build a super simple web app?
I've had a great experience with CakePHP, with their cake bake tool, you'd be able to generate most of the boilerplate code for your CRUD
AjJi··on Ask HN: Common Core Math, Better? Or Worse?
I can count the number of multiple-choice tests I had on the fingers of my hands, and all of them were tests preparing for tech certifications.

When discussing the multiple choice format between students, we've always thought that it's way easier to get the guess the right answer between choices than to show how you got there.

It's even worse outside of math classes, say history, and you're asked "when did $COUNTRY get its independence", obviously, it's much easier when you have a list of choices to choose from.

AjJi··on Ask HN: Does anyone think the smart watch will ever actually take off?
Apple has a horde of people waiting to buy its devices, it will take off thanks to Apple's marketing and then 2-3years from now, they'll start claiming that they invented smart watches.
AjJi··on Ask HN: How to pay freelancers abroad?
why not a wire transfer to their bank account?
AjJi··on Ask HN: What Video Games Did You Play In 2013?
starcraft2, dota2
AjJi··on Ask HN: do you support IE6? IE7?
Supporting IE7 is relatively easier compared to IE6 - so yeah, IE7 for me.

So far this year, no client asked for IE6 support.

AjJi··on Ding Dong, Daily Deals Are Dead
Maybe dead in the US, where I live (Morocco), daily deals websites are growing like weed, and many users "discovered" online payment through them, IMO, they're not going anywhere.
AjJi··on Ask HN: Do software developers need agents?
I don't know about the US, but in Europe (and Morocco where I live), many freelance use "sales engineers" (technico-commercial in French, not sure if it's the correct translation), this person gets a commission for every gig he lands for the freelancer.
AjJi··on [Ask HN]Is there a ballpark on how much $ to allocate to build an MVP?
Minimum Viable Product
AjJi··on Ask HN: Can someone explain the common open source licenses?
Check out http://www.tldrlegal.com/ (Lookup software licenses summarized & explained in plain English.)
AjJi··on Treating JavaScript like a 30 year old language
AFAIK, using 'new' is not a matter of preference. Omitting the keyword leads to different results. Am I missing something?
AjJi··on Ask HN: PHP coders, what's preventing you from changing language?
"Moving" from a language is a laughable concept for me.

As professionals, we tend to work with many constraints in play, and one of them, most of the time, is the language. It's not that the client requires me to use PHP, but not using it will be a hassle for the client afterwards, mainly, because of hosting and maintenance. Python and Ruby devs are quite rare where I live, thus, using PHP enables the client to find maintainers easily down the road.

Technically, I have no problem moving from one language to another (though, never tried a functional language), and I've done professional work using ruby in the past.

Frankly, reading HN discussions about PHP, I feel like they're missing the point, or maybe, it's because I live in a country where PHP is prevalent - there's a whole market here for PHP devs, I've been doing contract work for almost 3years now using XHTML/CSS/JS/PHP stack exclusively, most of the time with a framework, or even a CMS.

AjJi··on Ask HN: Summer reading
"normal" conversation? what's that?

In all seriousness, in my opinion, there's not such thing as normal conversation, people are different, conversations too.

AjJi··on Why do business analysts and PMs get higher salaries than programmers?
AFAIK, SE mods are not picked based on karma, you can nominate yourself to be mod, and users will vote according to many indicators, not karma only.

Elections: http://stackoverflow.com/election

AjJi··on Why do business analysts and PMs get higher salaries than programmers?
It was closed after 2 pages of answers and hundreds of votes - not so problematic IMHO.
AjJi··on OSX apps that keep you hooked to your Mac?
I believe that "not having to screw around to make things work" doesn't apply to windows, or at least, not anymore. Do you recall specific situations where something worked out-of-the-box on Mac but required "screwing around" on a windows machine?
AjJi··on My first month freelancing
signed up too, looking forward to reading the book :)
