Aeyris··on MySQL infrastructure testing automation at GitHub
You want to at least have some control over the hardware. Disk encryption on a dedicated server or (even more ideally) a caged, locked, colocated rack.

The system administrators of anything multi-tenant can access your data. The problem is they probably don't care. It's up to you where to draw that line, though.

"Administering a mail host is sort of like being a nurse; there's a brief period at the start when the thought of seeing people's privates might be vaguely titillating in a theoretical sense, but that sort of thing doesn't last long when it's up against the daily reality of mess. Now that I think about it, administering a mail host is exactly like being a nurse, only people die slightly less often."

Indeed. jwz does not appear to like HN.

Aeyris··on GitLab 9.2 Released with Multiple Assignees for Issues and Pipeline Schedules
Can you have public issue boards on private repositories (or private code repositories on public projects) with GitLab?

Trello is good for that sort of "feature request" behaviour.

I'm talking about security issues, specifically. A lot of the vulnerabilities found within Chrome[0] would be actually within Blink.

As nice as all the features they've added are, I can't help but see Vivaldi as "Chromium but Blink probably isn't completely up to date", and it worries me more than a little to use a browser where the latest (potentially high impact) changes to the browser rendering engine aren't remedied until the next browser patch.

Coming from the ANZ Overwatch community here as well, Overwatch has pretty much completely taken over any voice communications platform that isn't just in-game voice.

Yes.
Aeyris··on Is PostgreSQL good enough?
At a guess stemming from ignorance of Elasticsearch, I'm going to assume you'd join PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch like that in situations where you need to perform more complex analysis over the queries to provide results, is this correct? I've seen this particular architecture before and my biggest question was whether or not it was a piece that could be eliminated.

For, say, a tag-based search system (think any forum or booru-style imageboard), is Elasticsearch completely overkill?

I realise I could probably just google it™, but it's a lot easier to understand a product's strengths when they're put in a situational context.

Is anyone actually utilising a recent version of PostgreSQL for full-text searching beyond a hobby project? How do you find the speed and accuracy versus Elasticsearch?
