> Weird keybindings, e.g. pressing Ctrl +/- does not zoom/unzoom

if you prefer illustrator shorcut inksape offers it in welcome screen but maybe it would not hurt to also add that binding defoult is just +- without modifiers

> The golden path feels buggy. When launching the window is for some reason cropped to the top 1/8th of the screen and needs to be resized, and the artboard is tiny.

this is not true for new installs.

> Exported SVGs are needlessly verbose. This looks like it has gotten better but is still there. For example, exporting an SVG with two gradients actually puts four gradients in the file (combining with inheritance).

Inkscape extends SVG a lot so it can add more features. for exports just one of optimised svg export options inskcape offers

it can be set up not to do that and it si set up by default not to do that. If its possible (for some elements in specific scenaris it is not)

Yes .. ish we have touch to select hold alth while dragging
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.3
imho this is sothing inskcape is lacking a lot and lots of needed features are hidden way too much. manly that if you want to create curve and tehn straight line you need to press Shifl+L

I made my proposal for improwing this wholl workflow still waiting for interested developer to implement it https://gitlab.com/inkscape/ux/-/issues/5

you dont need to do mental math you can chang your bbox calcuations to use geometry preferences- tools - bbox geometry
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.3
ytou can do that with boolean operations in path menu or with new shape buuilder tool
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.3
yeha it seems like upstrem bug . Inscape is porting to 1.4 so hopefully this will be addresed there
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.3
you still cannot create color pallets easily/user-friendly , we did not implemented this yet.

you can expect some performance gains but not really 12x it does not scale lineri .

you can edit SOME keyboard shortcuts in preference - Interface -keyboard .

Some (a lot) of actions are still not migrated to actions so you cannot change shortcuts easily. But this is ongoing process.

AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.3
its been there for a very long time
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.3
We are slowly working also on that
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.2
take this as a first iteration we need to fix and polish this dialog in next releases. Hover state on row should help with maching rows icons
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.2
gtk3 supports HiDPI BUT just a whole numbers no fractals (100,200,300percent)
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.2
yes you can set this in preferences/ tools and set last used style for every tool you want this. or reset your preferences we set this as defoult behaiviour from 1.1
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.2
Inkscape does how this feature. ux is not the best we should convert it to tool at some point. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKHOm-EQsA4
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.2
hmm this was never a feature as long i remeber (0.92) so this sounds like a bug that got randomly fixed for you :D
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.1.2

i hope you dont take this wrong way but ... what you are suggesting is if you cannot do it ""proplerly'" dont do it at all ... testing such a huge project as inkscape is a lot of work. perosnaly i do it a lot but sometimes you just cannot catch it all. "We" dont have receorses we have just developers that are sometimes work on stuff
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.1.2
grass is always greener on a other side. And rewriting to Qt would be as big as starting new projcet from scratch
AdamBelis··on Inkscape 1.1.2
It's easy to forget that Inkscape is run purely with volunteers, is a charity with 0 employees. I get that these problems are frustrating but maybe it would be more appropriate to wonder how is even possible that this project runs so well :D. Some technical problems are outside our power. Mainly performance regression was introduced by gtk3. Which was a big blow to the whole project because it took 5years of work. And in the end, we discovered that technology is just slow and we need to migrate once again if we want to fix it. Bugs are not ignored we just simply don't have enough manpower to fix them all
