Aboutplants··on What Meta got right with Muse
If you can design something that a Baby Boomer can understand, then you have a mass market product at full scale. Otherwise your hopefully building something that a niche group finds attractive and that grows from there, outwards to scale.

It’s boomers

Aboutplants··on Scientists invent underwater umbrellas to protect coral reefs
Nothing that could potentially scale without unintended consequences. Next
Aboutplants··on One month coding with GLM 5.3 Flash
In two years (or less) the frontier of today will be this cheap, which kind of blows my mind
Aboutplants··on Colorectal Cancer Is Rising Among the Young, Even Kids and Teens
How much of an impact does sitting for hours on end effect your risk of colon cancer? I’m not talking about lack of exercise but the physical act of sitting for 6+ hours a day, regardless of whether you get “adequate” exercise?

As someone with Crohn’s disease, I am sensitive to sitting for extended periods and its impact on my internals near my end. I’m sure there is some sort of effect, just curious if there has been any research

Aboutplants··on Sites in ChatGPT
Gonna wager good money they attempt to relaunch Apps or something of the sort, where you build, launch, host within ChatGpt, seamlessly making it easier really soon.

Then the app economy gets going within ChatGPT

Aboutplants··on Oxygen-deprived underwater zones may not be “dead zones” but clue to early life
I’m always amazed at when we find life in places where the conditions aren’t very suitable, but I’m never surprised. Life is everywhere
Aboutplants··on Sudo – A dedicated music player designed around listening to music
Just use an old iPhone as your music player. You probably have one in a drawer somewhere
Aboutplants··on Gemini 4 Argon
OpenAI released two model updates in the past week. 6 weeks from now is an eternity
Aboutplants··on Gemini 4 Argon
I feel his theory depends on the premise that access to pure compute would the be the determining factor of success. Not the case
Aboutplants··on AI needs $6T in annual revenue to justify data centre boom
I wish people would realize that Zitron is nothing but a grifter who saw an avenue for content and went all in.

I don’t even disagree with some or even a lot of his takes, it’s just he is singularly a content generator with a track to run on. Look at his previous work, it’s much of the same kind of attempts at being relevant. To me he’s nothing more than a drive time radio host, shouting about something just to fill the air

Aboutplants··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
“OpenAI's new Pro 500 plan offers OpenAI's highest usage allowance and comes with access to its new "Ultrafast" feature — it also costs $500 per month.

At the same time, OpenAI is also making its existing $200 Pro plan less appealing. In Codex and Work, $200 Pro subscribers will see their included usage decrease from 20x of what the company offers to Plus users, down to 10x of that same allowance. In ChatGPT, meanwhile, GPT-6 Pro message caps will decrease from 200 to 100 per week.”

Yikes

Aboutplants··on GPT 6.1 Sol: Near-Astra intelligence for a fifth of the price
I do wonder if people switch back and forth between primary models (GPTvsClaude) that it may be a better idea to simply keep releasing updates as soon as possible in order to keep users from bouncing back and forth.

So when does Anthropic answer? Tomorrow?
Aboutplants··on Claude partial outage
This is why it will be more important than ever to have experienced, quality employees.

I dare companies to gamble on running their businesses on absolute skeleton crews long term

“Screenshots”

The amount of sensitive information that accidentally gets left on screenshots is pretty large. This is a pretty massive security issue

Aboutplants··on Anthropic's IPO prospectus shows AI vision, surging costs
One of those customers is the US government, I wonder who the other one is
Aboutplants··on Kids turned low-traffic NPR Spotify comments into a secret group chat
The ingenuity of youth always makes me smile. It brings me back to my youth and the things we used to get up to, in retrospect it was a huge learning experience for me. Learning how to think outside the box, finding ways things could be utilized outside of their intended use, etc.
Aboutplants··on Sonnet 5.5
Do you even need Fable for much of anything now? I’m basically using it as a reviewer at the end of whatever I’m working on, and even then I’m really not finding much benefit.

Aboutplants··on DoorDash Spent $1.4M Trying to Stop Mamdani from Becoming Mayor. Now We Know Why
Eh, the difference is that DoorDash is a logistics company performing a service that restaurants do not like running (delivery). It’s not a middleman providing no value
Aboutplants··on Claude discovers a novel enzyme system with CRISPR-like repeats
Please tell me more about these “cures” you speak of. Because to my knowledge, yes we are good at getting patients into remission, we do not have “cures” Coupled with the fact that treatment is often life altering in and of itself
Aboutplants··on What California is learning from solar panels built over irrigation canals
They are man made canals. While there is life in them, it’s not really important to worry about that.
Aboutplants··on Transit rewards
I use ride share singularly for the convenience. I don’t really think about the cost all that much if it’s “reasonable” and no financial incentive they could provide to link multiple forms of transportation would be enough to overcome that single convenience.
Aboutplants··on NASA’s Mars Sample Return mission is dead
For better or worse it won’t be long until we get private exploration for minerals and water on the Moon and nearby planets, at a relatively decent scale (in comparative terms)
