AaronAPU··on Dots: Always-on agents
yeah I don’t get dots. Will try it but conceptually I can’t understand why it would be better than just queuing codex agents.
AaronAPU··on Japan moves to tighten rules for foreigners
foreigners
AaronAPU··on Too AI; Didn't Read
It’s Trump all over again
AaronAPU··on Creatine uptake enhances antitumor immunity
I’m 45 and work out a lot and feel this way without creatine. To the point that this makes me worry it would exacerbate my existing sleep issues (I literally never feel sleepy, I feel exactly the same 24 hours a day).
AaronAPU··on GPT-6 Sol and Luna
I had this experience as well, but after rewriting my agent instructions it has been far better. I believe Astra’s “token efficiency” translates to “don’t research as much” which caused it to make poorly informed architectural decisions.
AaronAPU··on Teen Social Media Bans Miss the Point
It seems fair to me. Consider the influence it has on an individual’s fundamental moral predicates. It shapes them by exposing them to emotion-laden content and burrows us into individual niches of hyper-optimized recommendation algorithms.

The fundamental is there, the warping is there. What do you suppose is overwrought about the language?

AaronAPU··on Teen Social Media Bans Miss the Point
Having lived many years prior to social media, it feels very clear that social media fundamentally warps people in a way they weren’t before.

If you have only lived within it, it makes sense to underestimate the impact.

AaronAPU··on Show HN: Die With Me – Claude and Codex rate limits as AIM away messages
Asks for an invite code, but no way to get one or reason to want one.

No screenshots or videos of what it looks like or does when you get in.

Weird name which has no connection to the described purpose that I can discern.

Weirdly specific purpose for a social network and what does it have to do with AIM.

Just seems like someone took a badly conceived idea and prompted an agent to make it a website.

AaronAPU··on Sean Carroll explains the biggest ideas in the universe – Full Interview [video] (2025)
That makes sense. There is a certain honesty to it, not to throttle your speech for tact’s sake. He expresses the level of confidence he has.
AaronAPU··on Sean Carroll explains the biggest ideas in the universe – Full Interview [video] (2025)
That is really interesting. To me he does sound very pompous. I still like him, but he treats most questions like the person should be ashamed of having asked something so foolish.

Different interpretations of the same personality I suppose.

AaronAPU··on Everyone should slow down AI development except for me
They are talking about slowing down the public facing AI development. Because then nation states can create a capabilities gap between them and the public.

Why does nobody seem to be pointing out this obvious explanation? It explains why the “we need to race China” concern suddenly vanished in the discussion.

The government can simply gag Sam, Dario, Musk on national security basis, getting them all behind the public messaging.

AaronAPU··on Ask HN: What default model do you use and why?
I think most of us when you start typing stuff like that just roll our eyes and get on with our day.
AaronAPU··on Ask HN: What default model do you use and why?
I pay $200 month and literally have never a single time run out of usage, for Codex + Pro chat. It is better than DeepSeek and at least it supports a US company. Your pain isn’t important to me.
AaronAPU··on Discovery of a new OpenAI agent message board
I wonder if the sort of algorithm which would break this sort of swarm alignment would also break watermarking.
AaronAPU··on GPT-6 Astra
The problem is it’s turtles all the way down. The AI will be able to use AIs better than a good engineer can. And it will also be able to use AIs to use AIs to use AIs better than the engineer can.

The threat is that the very kernel of value you had is gone forever. There is no more differential leverage.

AaronAPU··on GPT-6 Astra
How is it I juggle 4-8 Codex Sol-5.6 Max agents every day and have never once run out, but you run out in one day? What are you actually doing?
AaronAPU··on Nobody has built a software factory
Software factory doesn’t matter without an attention factory, and if you have that you don’t even need more software.
AaronAPU··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
Those of us who remain connected hold an asymmetric advantage. It is our time now.
AaronAPU··on Meta reaches $17B settlement over social media harms to children
I always come back to the born again Christian who acknowledges his wealth came from things he isn’t proud of, yet his entire public persona and social network is predicated on that wealth. He doesn’t give it away and actually live the life he’s pretending to now live. He just found a way to have both. The supposed newfound morality/religiosity was just one more thing to greedily acquire.
AaronAPU··on MS Paint and Photos inivisibly watermark even locally generated output with GUID
So as usual, exactly the things you want it to work on it won’t.
AaronAPU··on Show HN: Make your logo extra bright on HDR screens
I’m known for having my brightness down to the minimum at all times. The demo page effect is very pronounced. Effectively, it is ignoring my system level preference which makes me hate it a lot.
AaronAPU··on If your agent commits a crime, who is responsible?
Is it “your” agent if the model is being run by a mega corporation?

(1) You may have instructed the model to be naughty (2) The corp may have a “misaligned” agent acting on its own volition

So it seems the devil’s in the details

AaronAPU··on Semaglutide linked to lower predicted dementia risk
If it reduces inflammation and causes weight loss, I find it impossible to believe you can just stop and not get rebound on both.

Which to me just sounds like every other addictive drug. Paradise while you’re high, and eventually you pay for it.

AaronAPU··on The AI Situation in Software Development
Just ask it to do it. You can ask it to do a line reduction cleanup pass before each commit. I don’t know why they default to adding complexity because they are capable of doing it better just by asking.
AaronAPU··on The AI Billboards Are Killing SF
Just how much ketchup are you eating?
AaronAPU··on A Sick People
Both versions of America exist. It’s a massive country with very different social environments throughout. Even driving 15 minutes from one side of a city to another can completely change the vibe from basically heaven to hell.
AaronAPU··on Google kills Earth AI generator after one day
“Communism is a good political theory, it’s just hard to prevent people from abusing it.”

“Letting everyone out of prison is a good social strategy, it’s just hard to prevent people from abusing it.”

“Making all shops operate on the honor system is a good business strategy, it’s just hard to prevent people from abusing it.”

AaronAPU··on Advancing the price-performance frontier with GPT‑5.6
Does it actually yield results better than just sending it to 5.6 Pro?
AaronAPU··on Schools are adding pepper-spraying drones to help combat active shooters
Our country is better than yours because of the constitution
AaronAPU··on Exercise works for depression. So why isn't it treated like real medicine?
I’ve heard people give that as a reason for wanting a new doctor.
