You're just a clueless American without the basic background knowledge to see this situation for what it is: a preemptive defensive strike against an ever-expanding, finance-capital-backed NATO.
A bobcat is cornered by a man with a stick, the bobcat lashes out, you blame the bobcat.
You walk around a corner to see a kid hit another kid. You blame the one who did the hitting because you don't care to investigate what was happening before you rounded the corner.
There are decades of history that influence and have led up to this moment. The fact that you didn't mention NATO or the US/EU at tall is telling.

The US' war on China means that anti-China sentiment is on the rise and that means dollar signs for publishers who are happy to toe the line.
I only get this "China scary" vibe from people who've never been or know nothing about the country.
I keep thinking there's hope to avoid this war, but the way people comment here and on Reddit (in abject ignorance of geopolitical reality), I fear it's inevitable.
Fifteen (!) countries support Taiwanese sovereignty. The _rest of the world_ respects China's claim. It's insane that this rhetoric is even present in Americans' minds.
Taiwan is a province of China. Fewer than 15 countries (the U.S. is not one of them) acknowledge a sovereign Taiwan.
This is a wedge issue designed so that defense contractors can sell more weapons/arms/subs in the South Pacific.
Term limits are horrible for the working class in the U.S. Constant political turnover means groups like ALEC basically run our legislating process. Killing term limits for certain offices means that as someone gains experience and competence, they continue to lead, whereas in the U.S. they'd arbitrarily have to leave office right when they're getting the lay of the land.
It'd be like firing our senior dev and putting in a junior – no wonder shit never gets done in the States.
Given the near complete absence of terror in the region over the last few years, I'd say it worked to some end.
Even a cursory read of Marx/Engels/Lenin would clarify a lot of the points in this ignorant "article."

My state's pandemic unemployment insurance site launched in May with gross security issues and had to be shut down. Thousands of workers and freelancers have yet to receive their first check.
My sister-in-law and her husband both came down with COVID and lost their jobs. They have three kids and now my partner and I are helping them financially (which we really can't afford to do).
There isn't a food shortage because corporations are forcing migrant laborers into the warehouses to work, and they're being infected and dying in higher proportions. Martyrs for the meat industry (Tyson's profits were up 600% Q1). There are human costs to "stock market is fine."
I personally am down thousands of dollars helping my friends/family/neighbors with their groceries and rents. My "rainy day fund" has long been drained and my one nest-egg land asset is probably a few months away from having to be sold to continue supporting my loved ones.
The state is on track to open schools in a couple of weeks. A recent study shows that closing schools can reduce the mortality rate per month by 58%; this research is being ignored in the name of profits. Business leaders and their cronies in the state are pushing for this to get parents out of the home and into work.
My more-rural family members flat-out refuse to wear masks and have already proclaimed that they will not take the vaccine should one become available.
You may be right that this isn't a "nation toppler," but nations are far more resilient than people. I'm happy for you that this isn't affecting you. Consider yourself lucky.

“The government is scared because the domestic contradictions are growing,” Michael said. “Once you study Marxism, you know real socialism and China’s so-called socialism with Chinese characteristics are two different things. They sell fascism as socialism, like a street vendor passes off dog meat as lamb.”
I love File>New'ing a project. A blank canvas inspires me and I can see the possibilities, but my coworker can't imagine anything yet is able to improve greatly on extant concepts. And yet another friend can do neither, but is great at being disciplined and pruning/maintaining a codebase.
"The region you choose on the setup assistant will stay unchanged untill [sic] you reinstall the OS. I saw users who bought the Chinese model set the initial region to elsewhere, thus 🇹🇼 is properly displayed on their Mac and the 10.14.4 upgrade won’t affect them."
"So again there's no hardware lock. It has nothing to do with T2 chips. The only thing that changed is the mechanism macOS use to detect regions. You are still in control of your China model Macbooks."
