86J8oyZv··on Ask HN: What are some skills you have that are worth learning?
I mean, whatever floats your boat really, but when exactly are martial arts useful? The average person might use them once in a lifetime. A year's worth of voice lessons and pretty much any non-trained person will love hearing you sing along to any song, and you will make them want to sing. It's a way to relate to people and make friends in nearly any social situation.

Even if you're just more into the kinesthetic work, dance will pay more dividends and be more useful for basically the same reasons. Breaking is especially fundamental and nearly always works.

Again, do whatever works for you. But martial arts are really very rarely a useful thing to have learned. (And to be fair, performing monologues per the OP's suggestion is about as un-useful as martial arts relative to singing and dancing.)

What about "inline images can't be linkable?" Caption text could still link to an enlarged/detailed version. But if images can never be clicked/linked, it would be hard to abuse them for ads the way we see today.

So, is this basically Android's Bundle semantics made standard and cross-platform? Are there differences implementation-wise?

This really is so much of it! I started this journey a couple of years ago. A few more steps I've found since:

- Clean the spaces you are in, bedroom, kitchen, office, living room, etc - Learn to communicate with an open heart. The book "Nonviolent Communication" is a great resource. - Be careful of your thoughts. Don't even joke negatively about yourself. It really does affect you even if you're not aware.

Yes, let's provide as much cheap labor as possible in a time of record unemployment! What could go wrong?
86J8oyZv··on How to Invest in Startups
What?! This almost reads like you're saying the market rewards behavior that doesn't really create a variety of competitive and useful products.

The thing to keep in mind with investment strategy is that the goal is to make money easily, or find the best way to make money easily. Not to make the best or most interesting products or anything, really. This advice is the best advice when you take that into account.

86J8oyZv··on Serverless: slower and more expensive
"Serverless" is basically yet another manifestation of the fact that (despite recent controversy about, well, him being weird) Stallman was right about open-source. The alternative to serverless - open-source products like Mesos, DCOS, Nomad, etc. - offer the same functionality to engineering organizations at lower cost with vastly more pleasant (and manageable) support for things like CI. It's been a great money-making scam for the "cloud" companies though. "Serverless" is closed-source by nature, and it will never be as efficient as open-source solutions.
