7moritz7··on EU-banned pesticides found in rice, tea and spices
I'd be more scared of publicly criticizing Chiquita than the CIA at this point
7moritz7··on Show HN: Gitdot – A better GitHub. Open-source, written in Rust
I'm honestly lost for words over how you can write something like this while the web app's source code is clearly heavily integrated with Claude Code.

7moritz7··on Show HN: Gitdot – A better GitHub. Open-source, written in Rust
There is a dozen CLAUDE.md in the gitdot source. The "Anti-AI" in your title seems a bit disingenuous.
7moritz7··on When AI Crosses the Line: The Matplotlib Incident
I'd trust Claude more with nuclear codes than the current US commander in chief
7moritz7··on When AI Crosses the Line: The Matplotlib Incident
> allowing spicy autocomplete

If it's just autocomplete, then there is no need to worry about it. Especially from an ethical standpoint.

7moritz7··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me
These are sota models, not open source 7b parameter ones. They've put lots of effort into preventing prompt injections during the agentic reinforcement learning
7moritz7··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me
It's probably not literally prompted to do that. It has access to a desktop and GitHub, and the blog posts are published through GitHub. It switches back and forth autonomously between different parts of the platform and reads and writes comments in the PR thread because that seems sensible.
7moritz7··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me
It read the replies from the matplotlib maintainers, then wrote the apology follow up and commented that in the pr thread
7moritz7··on An AI agent published a hit piece on me
Hilarious. Like watching a high functioning teenager interact with adults
7moritz7··on Show HN: Use Claude Code to Query 600 GB Indexes over Hacker News, ArXiv, etc.
The scale. How many tools do you know that can query the content of all arxiv papers.
7moritz7··on I migrated to an almost all-EU stack and saved 500€ per year
HarmonyOS Next (Huawei) is independent from Android. So that leaves three options, even if Harmony is mostly China focussed. They have tons of users there.
7moritz7··on Kidnapped by Deutsche Bahn
I can't wait for Italo and Trenitalia to enter the German market, it can only get better. It's already at rock bottom for long distance. Short distance with foreign train companies is bearable (Westbahn, transdev, RXX...)
7moritz7··on Show HN: Vibe coding a bookshelf with Claude Code
Neurodivergent people tend to write like this too, there was a study about it.
7moritz7··on Show HN: HN++
Good catch on the page title
7moritz7··on SHARP, an approach to photorealistic view synthesis from a single image
The example doesn't look particularly impressive to say the least. Look at the bottom 20 %
7moritz7··on Adafruit: Arduino’s Rules Are ‘Incompatible With Open Source’
> Chief microcontroller rival Adafruit

They are PCB brands. The microcontrollers are made by the usual manufacturers like ST, Renesas, Infineon...

7moritz7··on PeerTube is recognized as a digital public good by Digital Public Goods Alliance
FOSS just does not have the aggressive scaling mindset. Even success stories like Linux' game compatibility and Chromium can be traced to just regular tech companies, as opposed to non profits.
7moritz7··on Show HN: Gemini Pro 3 imagines the HN front page 10 years from now
It is quite remarkable just how frequently people in tech forums underestimate reasoning models. Same story on several large technology subreddits. Wouldn't have been my guess for who will get caught off guard by AI progress.
7moritz7··on AI Adoption Rates Starting to Flatten Out
The least volatile dataset, employee count 1-4 businesses, is steadily climbing in adoption. I feel like as long as the smallest businesses (so the most agile, non-enterprise software ones) increase in adoption, other sizes will follow.
7moritz7··on $5 PlanetScale is live
They got big with mysql with optimizations (maybe mariadb?). neon would be postgres aas
7moritz7··on $5 PlanetScale is live
5 bucks gets you 8gb ram 4 vcpu 75gb nvme at contabo actually

i know this is apples and oranges but that's 16 times the ram

7moritz7··on Yann LeCun to depart Meta and launch AI startup focused on 'world models'
When I first saw their LLM integration on Facebook I thought the screenshot was fake and a joke
7moritz7··on iPhone Pocket
Greater China is never used to describe a region. It means China, Tibet, Macao, Hong Kong and Taiwan according to Apple.
7moritz7··on Spatial intelligence is AI’s next frontier
That has been solved with RAG, OCR-ish image encoding (deepseek recently) and just long context windows in general.
7moritz7··on Spatial intelligence is AI’s next frontier
Hasn't RLHF and with LLM feedback been around for years now
7moritz7··on Umami 3.0
I love umami. Tried several solutions but umami

- is a breeze to set up

- has every data point you need, but no bloat

- has an intuitive UI

7moritz7··on Deepnote, a Jupyter alternative, is going open source
*anywhere that has the python runtime installed

ironically that makes jupyter more portable via colab

7moritz7··on Deepnote, a Jupyter alternative, is going open source
Title and first paragraph make it sound like this is a project by the same people as (or endorsed by them) Jupyter. Apparently that's not the case and also it looks very similar to google colab so jupyter + better UI + some LLM integrations

But kudos for going oss

7moritz7··on AOL to be sold to Bending Spoons for $1.5B
They are digital private equity essentially
7moritz7··on OpenAI says over a million people talk to ChatGPT about suicide weekly
> if people try to engage it in such conversations the bot should immediately back out because it isn't qualified to have these conversations

For a lot of people, especially in poorer regions, LLMs are a mental health lifeline. When someone is severely depressed they can lay in bed the whole day without doing anything. There is no impulse, as if you tried starting a car and nothing happens at all, so you can forget about taking it to the mechanic in the first place by yourself. Even in developed countries you can wait for a therapist appointment for months, and that assumes you navigated a dozen therapists that are often not organized in a centralized manner. You will get people killed like this, undoubtedly.

LLMs are far beyond the point of leading people into suicidal actions, on the other hand. At the very least they are useful to bridge the gap between suicidal thoughts appearing and actually getting to see a therapist
