Thank you. Good points, I will think on that. For instance, flywaydb supports both ways but usually it is done directly from the application
4ipp··on Ask HN: Did certifications ever help you get a better job?
What certification did you have?
4ipp··on Ask HN: Where do you look for SE jobs in Sweden?
Thank you, they have quite a lot of job openings.
4ipp··on Ask HN: Functional programming in Kotlin vs. Scala advantages/disadvantages?
Thank you. I am just curious to compare these two. Clojure is a whole different language (as I understand it), while Kotlin and Scala are more or less of the same league.
4ipp··on Ask HN: Functional programming in Kotlin vs. Scala advantages/disadvantages?
Thank you. Are there other benefits apart from build in monads support?

Signal is Java-based https://github.com/signalapp/Signal-Server
4ipp··on Show HN: Kotlin Compiler Plugin That Overrides Annotation Use-Site Targets
I created the plugin for myself as I always forget to specify use-site targets for annotations coming from Java libraries. I hope you will find it useful as well.
4ipp··on Ask HN: What language should I learn if I want to build distributed apps?
It doesn't really depend on a language, it is more a question of an application architecture. But there are languages/tools that are quite popular in this area, like Go, Java, Kotlin, Node.js.

Yes, it's mine. Hard to estimate in hours. But it is around 3 weekends plus time to time after work.

I have plans to develop it further so I expect much more time investments.

4ipp··on I created a Fitbit clock face in TypeScript
Taking to account that I am an A1 German speaker (cretaed this app for me in the first place) it was tricky to find out what's right.

A friend of mine told me that his father would say "zwei vor Dreiviertel drei" for 2:43 :)

But in the end I just folloved the rules from my A1 book.

I come from typed world and TS makes a big difference for me. If you haven't tried it yet I would strongly suggest.

Fitbit also provides a types lib which makes it easier.

The only constraint I had is that there is no emulator for Linux and running on a real device doesn't always work.

Let me know once you implement your clock face. I would like to check how others do it.
