“Vercel combines the best developer experience with an obsessive focus on end-user performance. Our platform enables frontend teams to do their best work.”
Nice, inspiring evocative words, but I care to find what the fuck Vercel IS, and this is not an answer.
Maybe if I reword the above it will become clear:
Vercel lets developers have a really great time concentrating super hard looking super close at how fast things are. The thing we do lets you do the best thing you do.
Ah, now it’s crystal clear what Vercel is.
Seems a bit of a stretch to say that providing a bunch of command line utilities gives operating system naming rights.
There’s a lot to be said for being ordinary, and living an ordinary life, even if you’re super smart. Our society worships the idea of being some sort of extraordinary super person, even if it’s not good for them.
If it was 32GB I’d buy.
But a fast CPU is only marginally useful when my machine grinds from memory swapping.
Radiation being a huge problem apart from the basic unlivability https://phys.org/news/2016-11-bad-mars.html
There’s a million ways OSX is a work of art in OS design.
More than anything, it just works and multitasks smooth as a Swiss watch.
Simple, intuitive, consistent.
Yesterday I was using my iPhone and it said “share network password fro your Mac?” And it connected my to my local wireless. That’s beyond belief ease of use.
OSX knows what it is.... a powerful consistent desktop OS, 1000x better than anything from the 1980s or 1990s.
I was there in the 1980s and 1990s and it just wasn’t easy to use. Nothing was.
ARM has a huge problem with compatibility and secrecy.
Buy a random intel machine .... will it run Windows and Linux? YES.
Buy a random ARM device..,, will it run Linux? Maybe, probably not, even if it does, probably there’s problems and issues caused by the CPU vendor keeping aspects of its design secret.
ARM is a very very long way from replacing Intel.
There’s lots of “competitors” to esp32, pretty much none of them except STM have the software for developers, which makes their offerings close to useless.
The only way to gain critical mass is relentless deep commitment to developer tools/libraries and documentation.
In many cases these competitors actually try to hide their documentation and keep secret how their chips work.
I’d be interested to hear if there’s other chip vendors with software/documentation as impressive as Espressif but I haven’t heard any, except as I said STM.
Yeah right.
What a great line.
