Pepsi Number Fever, also known as the 349 incident, was a promotion held by PepsiCo in the Philippines in 1992, which led to riots and the deaths of at least five people

There is a different story/side to this statement.
I think this got played out with Apple v xCloud, although it is far from being over. Your wish of a synergy between Valve and Nintendo will most probably never be granted, with former entering the fray with their own offering. It is about to get juicy, which is probably good news for some consumers.

I had to search for it, and assume that you are referring to this utility: http://apps.palmtronix.com/shreddit/android/
It makes claims of zeroing out the local storage, but does not seem to do anything with regard to erasing your social media footprint. I would like your recommendation on scripts which comprehensively delete posts/history on Reddit, Twitter et al. and make them unrecoverable.
edit: I just noticed a post by @randomuser87178 which probably answers my query
In this context, it is exactly how politics work, and you have described shifting the Overton window or even floating the Trial balloon.
re: NHS. The case you are making doesn't fit your reasoning. As for privatisation in general, the current government is following a very basic rulebook:
1. Sabotage/kneecap an institution/ 2. Offer a solution involving cronies/ 3. Achievement Unlocked
1. For example, some Tory MP's (the elite that make the decisions for the plebs) don't need to rely on NHS for healthcare exclusively, hence they have a callous attitude towards it. They deploy all manner of subterfuge, replete with claps, lies and smiles, to starve out a public service funded by taxpayers.
2. The ultimate goal; offer a solution to the problem you manufactured (1) and share the spoils amongst yourselves, by awarding/rewarding and looking after each other's interests.
3. Self-explanatory.
The below links encapsulate some parts of why Apple cannot be continually trusted with customer data, or viewed as a paragon for privacy/security. There have been numerous examples, past and present e.g. The Fappening, T2 Chip flaws, atrocious leaks of customer data, Pegasus etc.
Some people with technical prowess, although not deluded, buy these devices with limited desire to constantly tweak or circumvent security features, especially when these devices claim to have them baked in and promise not to intrude.
>So much for this site having a higher level of discourse and it’s efforts to dissuade repetitive and knee jerk commentary though.
I am invested in this ecosystem, so the topic has a certain resonance. I resent your implication that my response to the original author was knee-jerk commentary. Furthermore, I responded to their nonchalance with a view to furnish a counterpoint.

For starters, please give up the defeatist attitude. They deserve the frontlash; even if it serves no purpose, as you describe it.
Apple have placed 'Privacy' at the core of their messaging, in order to sell their high-end products. In comparison to the already excessive pearl clutching based on moral panic within the ecosystem e.g. sanitising and censoring language and apps. This is a scope-creep via thought terminating clichés like 'think of the children' and the boogeymen, which will not be enough of an explanation, when Apple ID's start getting locked out for capturing entirely innocent moments of their children's lives, or the intimate holiday snaps etc. Conversely, someone can weaponise it by sending you content that will besmirch your good name, or send you away for a stint in prison.
Nonetheless, they will be a couple of moves away from either a lawsuit/collective action or a pushback from consumers, especially when the algorithm (wrongly) labels you as paedo, porn baron or worse -- then placing you in a Kafkaesque nightmare to explain yourself.

I am not sure of the intent of this article. The Betteridge style headline and the above hook are equally dubious. It sounds like a hit piece based on showerthoughts+watercooler moments, with a dash of personal bias/preference of the author.
I liked the entire event, along with the other new editions -- one or more of which will be either dropped or replaced by the one favoured by the host nation, next time around (Paris '24). Some established disciplines have questions hanging over them, i.e. Weightlifting. It doesn't pay to criticise a relatively new event for the lack of gloss, particularly one which features younger athletes, and inspires a generation to peel themselves away from phones and gadgets.
As a self-confessed mouse potato, I marvel at the athleticism and sheer determination involved in all sports, and feel ultra inspired by them. Whether some sports have too much exposure through prestigious international fixtures e.g., Football, Tennis, and Golf or events which normally don't get coverage, or have personalities with a cult following, is irrelevant.

I use this extension (and the app) regularly, which activates as soon as I visit Amazon in a container tab. In addition to providing in-depth statistics, features like alerts via Telegram have helped me hunt down bargains. I have noticed the increase in network requests and bandwidth when the tab is active, using basic tracking via Resource Monitor (W10). However, I can easily block it via uMatrix/uBO, if required. In this case, it is a trade-off, which can be justified.
Also, Tracker Control (Android) for Keepa app reports blocking just two trackers Google Crashlytics and Google Firebase Analytics -- so it is not as bad other apps.
I have used CamelCamelCamel in the past, which was more egregious and aggressive in tracking users, but don't know how it fares today.

This is more applicable to managers, who have a lot to lose and might feel compelled to protect their dubious skills/roles/responsibilities, which are now being eroded and automated by 'Bossware'.

I would like to know, how are you using Syncthing to create local backups for WhatsApp database/msgstore (crypt14) and media files. You also mention 65GiB as your complete backup ─ have you tested it via a restore? If so, how?
For tutorials and diagrams with a comical lack of instructions between the start and end.
There is no such implication on both counts. I am flabbergasted by how you have arrived at your conclusion.
Your comment seems to fit the profile of Brewdog, a UK based 'craft brewery'. They are known for deliberately courting controversy. The egregious examples include frivolous claims on trademarks, misogyny, bullying, harassment, amongst toe-curling and churlish behaviour, when they appeared on a BBC programme Who's The Boss. The latest 'Gold Can' escapade is another deceptive marketing campaign, which is their raison d'être. The strategy works, as it is doing them no harm and the growth is phenomenal.

I couldn't even tell which tabs were selected before this update, which is really frustrating if you have over 400+ tabs open. I realise it is excessive, and would appreciate a solution other than Tree style, Session management, Tab suspender add-ons/options to manage everything 'smarter' and also limit the fingerprinting at the same time.
Anyways, from my limited usage of the new version, I am glad that the container accents are now shown at the top, and tabs playing audio have more focus.
You paint a pretty picture; the camaraderie of buying, selling, haggling in an online cobbled internet town square, make for an idyllic setting. The tug-and-pull of reuse/recycle, vintage vs fast fashion are noble principles.
However, there is a murky side, which is infused with extreme expectations, toxic and churlish behaviour e.g. Amazon Prime type service, petty haggling over a few pennies, sellers abusing their privileges, limited understanding of fees and/or how PayPal works, unnecessary spats and an appallingly high level of entitlement etc.
Nevertheless, there is synergy, but have doubts about long-term prospects ─ Depop might just become another case study in acquihire or perhaps just a blot, as there is no shortage of other contenders nipping at their heels e.g. Vinted.
I haven't tweeted a single thing from my vintage account, and have no (zero) followers. It is basically a read-only account. Not only that, but I try not to follow any more than 100 accounts, which is still a lot! If curated properly, you can stumble upon interesting and thought-provoking interactions, interspersed with churlish and toxic behaviour -- some of which is fairly easy to identify, albeit hard to ignore. In general, it is theatre mixed with rapid insult delivery mechanism, which I find amusing, and prefer not to read into too much, and/or have any desire to interact with.
I have done the same. You can use this add-on to remove it from your new tab: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-overr...
I am in agreement. Although you can tweak and customise FF endlessly, however, you shouldn't have to delve into about:config to disable a malignant feature. The comment by [pseudalopex] probably sums up my view.
Revenue is good. Sacrificing privacy for revenue is debatable. Misleading people about sacrificing privacy for revenue is dishonest.

It does not restore the functionality. You cannot use the wired headphones via the adapter, and simultaneously charge the phone. The adapter was sold on the tagline of 'courage' by instilling the myth that 3.5mm jacks were verboten in the ecosystem. To suggest it was an altruistic act, is absurd. It was a calculated bet, like everything else they do, e.g. iPhones have yet to feature USB-C.
Spotify currently uses Ogg Vorbis on desktop and mobile, and AAC for the web player.
I respectfully disagree. The MPs (Members of Parliament) receive substantial remuneration to represent their constituents ─ including business expenses related to equipment, premises, staff, maintaining a second home etc. The main remit of their job is to be knowledgeable and informed of the bills they are voting upon. Most of these bills go through a lengthy process of debates, stages, readings and 'ping-pong' between HoC and HoL, before gaining the Royal Assent. There are absolutely no excuses for having a 'brief pack' and then vote based on a toss of a coin. Your reasonable expectation breeds complacency and apathy, absolving public servants of responsibility. As a taxpayer and a citizen, it is especially important to demand more at this crucial juncture, where they are stripping away any laws, which can be used to hold themselves accountable, whilst introducing Draconian measures.
The 'mission statement' seems to suggest that the platform is adding an extra layer to commoditise the celebrity/personality and their lifestyle, by solidifying ephemeral contact built via other channels, into a direct-to-consumer approach, who then become investors and/or stockholders? There is also an overlap on features of other established networks, so it will be not be easy to carve out a niche.
Nonetheless, it seems like a warped enough concept to achieve some success, despite contributing further towards the erosion of society and burning or reviving the careers of some wannabe/z-list celebs, amongst others.
I subscribed to a BT Openreach broadband product, a few years ago, in personal capacity. The service you are describing is called BT WiFi, after being rebranded. For residential customers, it is enabled by default i.e. an opt-out feature, as you have noted. Once you manage to find a way to disable it, you lose the 'benefits'. I found the feature to be extremely disconcerting, especially relating to a pattern of random parked vehicles and people loitering around residential premises at various times of the day, essentially to leech bandwidth off my connection.
It would seem that the ISP supplied router (HH6) was designed to create a splintered guest/public WiFi over a VPN. Although the matter of anonymity and liability was of great concern. However, I did not pursue it any further, due to numerous red flags, relating to degradation in QoS and security; latency, contention, poor signal, connection logs with dubious entries etc. It felt prudent to cut loose, rather than justify any perceived benefits.
To stay on the point, I am not sure if the Sidewalk branding will travel well long-term, might as well drop the facade and call it: Amazon Shodan.
