"22.30%"
https://github.com/mbostock/d3/wiki/FormattingIt'd also be cool if mousing over the inner circle updated the coloring of teams, showing their probability of reaching a certain game.

I should add a note about the Chongqing spike being incorrect to the about.

Not sure what else it could be though, unable to duplicate.
Embarrassingly, I'm not sure what the projection is. The data is described as 'estimates of human population for the years 1990, 1995, and 2000 by 30 arc-second (1km) grid cells'. I did some aggregation to reduce the file size and then just converted that grid to pixel values stretched across the screen:
y = d3.scale.linear()
.domain([0, longitudes.length])
.range([0, height]),

> ReadyReturn survived, but with essentially no marketing budget it is not widely known. Fewer than 90,000 California taxpayers used it last year – although those who do use it seem to be happy. Ninety-eight percent of users who filled out a survey said they would use it again.

They've done a great job of prettying up the dull looking defaults on flot.

Generally I like google finance's approach of showing mouse over data. Static legend, with everything displayed in one row so it doesn't take up too much horizontal space.

d3 and direct manipulation of SVGs are both so low level that make a decent looking chart requires a bit of boilerplate. That boilerplate should get wrapped inside of a directive and once you've done that, the specifics of how the directive is implemented don't matter too much.
It would be nice to use one language for data binding; I think angular would end up being a lot more verbose and prevent some of the nice things you can do with .call() and .transition() though. Additionally, I don't think 'creating a hole in the DOM' is necessary a bad thing. Sending graphs only the information that they need separates concerns nicely, resulting in more modular and maintainable code.
If you haven't read it, http://bleedingedgepress.com/our-books/developing-a-d3-js-ed... is pretty good.

Only a couple of lines of codes too:

I've made lots of stuff with d3 and never needed grid lines or dealt with undefined line values, so my 'getting your hands dirty' tutorial would probably deal with totally different issues than what would be useful for you. At a certain point, you just have to buckle down and read the documentation - a quick peak at the page for svg.axis shows how to get grid lines extremely easily (http://bl.ocks.org/mbostock/4323929).
Hanging out on the stackoverflow tag is also super helpful. I either know how to answer a question and get some internet points or Lars responds within an hour and I learn something new.
This is my favorite getting started on d3 tutorial: http://www.jeromecukier.net/blog/2013/03/05/d3-tutorial-at-s...
There generally isn't too much commenting going on though, despite generating a decent number of views. This makes sense - I only give feedback to a small percentage of things I see on the internet. I would like to interact with other designers more, but sending unsolicited comments/criticism via a tweet or an email doesn't seem appropriate most of the time.
I included a small note on the bottom of my last project "Have an idea for another graphic? Think I did something wrong? Hit me up! adam.r.pearce@gmail.com | @adamrpearce" which resulted in a couple of interesting email threads. None of those conversations really need to be private though.
d3.entries((s.split(" ").reduce(function(p, v){
v in p ? p[v]++ : p[v] = 1;
return p;}, {})))
.sort(function(a, b){ return a.value > b.value; })
.map(function(d){ return d.key;})
.slice(-10);> Reddit has seen as much as 4.4 million page views in a given day
These numbers didn't seem right to me; reddit gets way more than 3 times hn's traffic.
Last December, reddit had 2 billion page views [http://blog.reddit.com/2012/01/2-billion-beyond.html] which works out to over 60 million a page views a day and over 30 times hn's count.
I actually wrote a chrome extension to add a log to goko https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/goko-log-viewer/ka...
