No, they couldn't find you because you are 404. That's the joke. Wooosh
1970-01-01··on Semaglutide linked to 26% lower 5-year predicted dementia risk
That's a big percent for something that is completely devastating. This is objectively good news.
1970-01-01··on Möbius Strips and Differential Equations
>introduce the notion of movement, mass and force

Hence my statement about not being in a void.

>Is that point inside or outside?

Depends on which foot is inside and which is not. That's the beauty of reality. It's fully deterministic at the marco level.

1970-01-01··on Möbius strips and differential equations
Spin gets you centripetal force. You know where inside and outside are globally because the forces will be opposite depending on which "side" you're standing, which directly contradicts their statement "..globally you cannot label one side as up and one side as down. If you try to label one side as up, and then you move continuously around the Möbius strip, you'll end up labelling that same side as down!"

1970-01-01··on Möbius strips and differential equations
Here's the reason you need enginners in the universe. Yes, the strip has non-orientability. Howwever, just introduce spin about the center, as you would a wheel, and you get all the same benefits of orientation as long as you're not in a completely empty void in space. Upside sees constantly changing, inside sees the other side of the strip.

1970-01-01··on The American sports plutocracy
That's not a hard rule; there are several counterexamples. I found the Knicks, Braves, Blue Jays, Rangers, and Canadiens are publicly-owned. The billionaires will play their money games, but they don't have full control on the entire league.
1970-01-01··on The American sports plutocracy
Seems like between the lines there is a little success jealousy. Only a billionaire can own one of these major teams, and you get all of the problems this carries. It doesn't seem unique, and if anything its an anti-climatic use of wealth that could be spent on a million other problems. That's all I took away.
1970-01-01··on Apple proposes to take a 15% cut of purchases made outside the App Store
>C'mon Apple

C'mon with your wallet. That's the only voice they hear.

1970-01-01··on License plate reader searches should require a warrant

..."and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
It was an attempt to secure privacy. "Their" means an individual, a person. Essentially, you control what you control, and do not need to give up this control unless there is suspicion of crime.

Also there is solar panel monitoring data. That is also an interesting watch:

1970-01-01··on US hires over 2k video gamers as air traffic controllers
>No mention of what games they're playing?

Indeed, that's the interesting part that remains missing. I don't think Farming Simulator 26 is going to be on their list, but that is an assumption; where is their ad targeting data?!

1970-01-01··on Windows 11's built-in Weather app wastes more than 1 GB of RAM
I used to get weather info via telnet, the report was measured in bytes. Either we are getting 10^9 more weather data or this is a record amount of bloat.

That fact doesn't check out. They will have health problems from sitting but it isn't killing them.
1970-01-01··on Study Finds Short AI Chats Reduced Belief in New Conspiracies
https://arxiv.org/pdf/2608.06151

I find it very hard to believe "rational persuation" is most effective in changing the minds of idiots, yet here it sits on paper. I remain skeptical without more evidence.

1970-01-01··on Lost my phone at the office. Claude suggested tracking Bluetooth signal strength
Many apps already do that, and the LLM is trained with them (and a million others). No astounding news here.
1970-01-01··on Gateway 2000's hilariously bad ads in the 90s (Part II)
Agreed. They are good ads if we're still discussing them. This is one of those critics that assumes the current times are the 'correct taste' and anything foreign to their taste is poorly done, even when it resulted in sales.
1970-01-01··on _for-sale DNS records
Can't wait for some kid to slip this into Google.com via AI chatbot and then massage the chatbot to complete the sale for $1.
1970-01-01··on 2027 memory capacity is reportedly sold out
Seems like we need a USB equivalent standard to RAM sticks. I have lots and lots of old (1-2GB), intercompatible sticks sitting. Sometimes you just need the space and not the speed.
1970-01-01··on Water system controllers don't belong on the internet, says ex-NSA chief
He is wrong and right. They should be connected to the Internet when they aren't 30 year old PLCs ripe for abuse. Until then, cut the data lines and do water monitoring the old way.
1970-01-01··on On non-rooted Android 17, ADB uninstall of system apps fails
Per the title, root is directly related to the problem at hand. "On non-rooted Android 17..."

Toasters are heating elements with slots for bread. The 70s saw ten men walk on the moon and return to Earth to tell us all about it. Whatever point you were trying to make wasn't made.
1970-01-01··on On non-rooted Android 17, ADB uninstall of system apps fails
If you don't have root, you are not the device owner, you are a lessor to whatever companies and carriers are subsidizing your out of pocket costs. This includes iPhone and it's walled garden approach (delete Siri - you cannot, GBs of space is permanently wasted on most users and it still drains the battery when fully disabled). Locked, unlocked, and root are terms the general public has no clue about.

Whenever someone buys an unrootable phone, ask them if they enjoy living under HOAs. That's the same level of control they've agreed to without root. Framing it this way will neatly land your point and just maybe reset their concept of what they should have purchased.

There are over 2 dozen known senses to reality. Video input is a fraction of a sense.

1970-01-01··on Discovery Loop
I'm skeptical of any Engineering loop that doesn't include reality (as in touch grass) feedback. Pure logic and reasoning is the domain of Maths and Science (philosophy). Surely it will work, but it will not "be able to solve any learning loop".
