0xy··on Felony charges for citizen deleting phone data at US Border
Democrats built the blueprint for ICE's deportation program and architected the law that enabled it.

Clinton's IIRAIRA bill literally introduced expedited removal procedures and created the concept of 'administrative warrants', routinely used by CBP/ICE today.

Without the IIRAIRA, removal would be substantially harder.

0xy··on Felony charges for citizen deleting phone data at US Border
Huh? These warrantless phone searches happened in the tens of thousands under the previous admin.
0xy··on U.S. Debt Hits $40T as America's Borrowing Binge Continues
You just linked a completely irrelevant blog post about a completely different act.

You seem to have conflated the infrastructure bill with the inflation reduction bill.

Notably, and tellingly, any purported debt reduction from the inflation bill was made irrelevant from the $300bn of extra debt from the infra bill.

Let me know when you have an actually relevant source.

0xy··on FCC abolishes gigabit speed goal
Biden's broadband bill was designed to connect those rural areas for $50bn but nobody was connected because it was a scam designed to enrich ISPs and driven by ISP lobbyists.

I like how people pretend that history never happened. We're supposed to forget that this happened merely 4 years ago and taxpayer money was not shoveled into the fire pit.

We'll definitely trust you to do another $100bn plan next time you're in power and NOT shovel cash into the fire pit this time.

This scam was covered extensively. 2021 it was law and nothing done by 2024. Absolutely embarrassing. [1]

0xy··on U.S. Debt Hits $40T as America's Borrowing Binge Continues
Clinton made a serious effort to pay down the debt, but none of the Democrats since did.

Clinton was also not a Democrat if you compare him to current Democrats. His admin was more right wing than the Trump administration. Clinton's crime bill, serious immigration crackdowns. I mean, Trump did partial criminal justice reform in his first term. That's the complete opposite of the Clinton crime bill, which skyrocketed incarceration.

Clinton's IIRAIRA bill laid out the blueprint currently being utilized for rapid deportations. In fact, 'expedited removal' is a core feature of the bill. Also, he architected the concept of administrative warrants currently being used by ICE for deportations.

0xy··on U.S. Debt Hits $40T as America's Borrowing Binge Continues
Biden's infra plan was $550bn in new spending, which was offset in only $50bn of new revenue and $110bn of spending reductions. So, on net, it was massively inflationary and toasted the budget.

That was just one proposal with half a trillion.

0xy··on U.S. Debt Hits $40T as America's Borrowing Binge Continues
The spending floodgate cannot be turned off or reduced, only directed towards the current admin's pet projects and away from the previous admin's pet projects. This is true for both parties.
0xy··on U.S. Debt Hits $40T as America's Borrowing Binge Continues
There's a long history of the reflecting pool having severe algae issues dating back to the early 2000s. Obama spent $30m on repairs that ultimately failed. Is your argument that the pool continuing to fail as it has done under successive governments is exclusively the fault of the admin that has far larger and far more serious points to criticism them on?
0xy··on U.S. Debt Hits $40T as America's Borrowing Binge Continues
Unlimited spending will never cease as both parties are heavily incentivized to spend, pork barrel and defer desperately needed reform.

Social Security hurtles towards a cliff while it has a 'fix everything easily' button because no large scale reform is possible until it's the very last minute or far too late, then a sloppy and terrible solution is rammed through full of more pork.

0xy··on U.S. Debt Hits $40T as America's Borrowing Binge Continues
The East Wing argument is such a weird hill to die on. Even Obama era staffers admitted it was embarrassing to welcome foreign dignitaries to a muddy patch of grass rather than a fit for purpose room.

It's also majority private sector funded, and numerous admins have made substantial changes to the White House.

Bush 2 and Obama made substantial renovations to the White House, as did Clinton.

Trump has a massive and growing pile of rightful criticism and you're focusing on a project which costs 1/1,000th the cost of the Iran War and Obama staffers admit is necessary? Priorities?

They're actually ramping back up on AWS after Azure failed to scale to their needs.

They planned to be fully off AWS in 2027 but they're continuing to ramp usage.

Azure doesn't scale.

On which point? Brain surgeon pay? [1] [2] Waitlisting? [3] [4]

There's literally over 7,000,000 Britons on a NHS waiting list right now.

Please clarify what I'm incorrect about.

0xy··on Universal health coverage could save $1T and 114k lives a year: study
Life expectancy is a function of demographics, which averages ignore.

Income is also an assertion not supported by data. For simple procedures such as a knee or hip replacement, many people earning under $80K CAD opt for US treatment.

Likely because Canada has extremely bad waitlists which are continuing to deteriorate. That coupled with a lack of specialist medical options and lesser quality.

In Canada, a woman with breast cancer could be waiting 2 months to even start treatment. In the US, you'll be starting next week.

0xy··on Universal health coverage could save $1T and 114k lives a year: study
You're being dishonest if you claim otherwise. UK brain surgeons get paid less than a Walmart general manager in the United States, let alone a like for like comparison.
0xy··on Universal health coverage could save $1T and 114k lives a year: study
Look no further than the UK, with 24 month waiting lists, the shunning of experimental treatments (many high profile kill decision cases) and skyrocketing costs.

In the UK, a brain surgeon is paid less than the General Manager of a single Buc-ees Gas Station location in the United States. Absolutely diabolical.

0xy··on Universal health coverage could save $1T and 114k lives a year: study
Can you reconcile this with skyrocketing Canada to US medical tourism?

The insurance companies had substantial input to the specific text of the ACA. I'm not sure how you can imply the ACA was not a BigCorp bill when BigCorp wrote it.

It's also well known from leaks that the first Obama administration selected his cabinet using recommendations from Citigroup.

0xy··on ICE Shot a Journalist and Threw Him in Detention. He's Approaching 300 Days
A vehicle is a deadly weapon. Would you personally accelerate against a police vehicle with active lights that is conducting a traffic stop on you?

Accelerating towards law enforcement is a deadly threat.

If he's willing to threaten them with a deadly weapon, what else is he willing to do?

0xy··on ICE Shot a Journalist and Threw Him in Detention. He's Approaching 300 Days
Lol, what happens at 0:45 exactly? He's accelerating against the bumper which crunches and you can see the law enforcement vehicle lurch backwards.

FAFO.

0xy··on ICE Shot a Journalist and Threw Him in Detention. He's Approaching 300 Days
There's video, lol.
0xy··on ICE Shot a Journalist and Threw Him in Detention. He's Approaching 300 Days
Huh? Did you watch the video? Not only do you hear his car revving, but you see the law enforcement vehicle repeatedly shift backwards as he rams it.

At 0:45 you see and hear him hit the vehicle, rev and the crunch of him accelerating against it.

0xy··on Bluesky's active user base is shrinking as its focus expands beyond the app
Didn't they immediately ban JD Vance on his first completely innocuous post on the platform?

That's aside from the blatant echo chamber nature of the platform. Both the left and the right post on Twitter. Only the left post on BlueSky.

This probably contributes to the decline, but I think the biggest contributor is the lack of interesting content. If you wanted to gorge on leftist viewpoints wouldn't you just read a leftist subreddit?

0xy··on US agency ends 39% household cap on local TV station owners
Seems totally legit!

Harris+Biden spent $770M on TV ads while Trump spent $350M.

How about 2016? Clinton spent $400M on TV ads while Trump spent $125M.

How'd that go for them? Really seeing those double digit improvements.

0xy··on US agency ends 39% household cap on local TV station owners
There are independent YouTube channels routinely pulling 10x prime time ABC News numbers. Not just 1 or 2, more like thousands. The world has moved on.

I mean you can blatantly see who's watching this garbage by tuning in. The primetime ads are adult diapers, dementia pills and retirement financial products.

TV is dead so who cares if it consolidates. In fact, consolidation is probably the only way it staves off complete collapse for a few extra years.

The average age of a Fox News, CNN or MSNBC viewer is 60+.

The median 20 year old NEVER watches TV.

Didn't think so.

0xy··on Admin: Terminally Ill Patients Aren't Exempt from Medicaid Work Requirements
The headline is categorically false, and people with qualifying conditions are automatically exempt from work requirements. [1]

Most will never be asked for 'proof' they are unable to work as this memo directs states to review medical records to automatically exempt qualified patients.

Blindly believing a source with a known history of both bias and lying leads you to these conclusions. It's pure garbage, the headline is literally false by any angle.

0xy··on Why a $154B CEO just endorsed stripping most Americans of voting rights
When you choose to not work as an able-bodied person you're really insisting that your community should be forced to give you resources while you contribute nothing.

Any collectivist commune would kick you out for this.

It's also interesting you use the McJob angle, because when you consider the price of a Big Mac, labor is by far the largest contributor of cost, not profit.

A Big Mac's cost is 30% labor, 25% ingredients and only 5% net profit. The remainder is operating costs. Seems like a pretty good deal for the people making the Big Mac, they're getting 6x more than the franchisee gets.
