But when I was doing it, I got a big warning that anyone could come up and register that handle for themselves. So I instead ended up just deleting every post, my personal details, and left the account alone (not using it anymore).
I know they do this intentionally (it's bad intentions all over the place on social networks nowadays, except HN, of course).
I'm terrified of somebody else just creating the account with the same handle I used to have, and impersonate me across old friends and contacts.
What do you suggest?
That says absolutely nothing. The "What is Forgejo?" question is unanswered and instead you get a lot of words about their values, their inclusivity, etc. And the next thing in the docs is how to install it. It's ridiculous.
I still don't know what it is or what it does.
Adonisjs has existed for more than 10 years. I’ve used Django for many years and I find Adonis way better (and ages more modern) than Django.
I've been running the same Samsung UE40C6530 since 2010. It's 16 f'ng years and the thing works flawlessly like the first day. No other electronic device in my life worked so well, during so long.
But I'm about to move to a new home, and it feels like it's about time to get something more modern, at least a 4k TV.
But I'm honestly totally lost at what to buy. I do not want a "Smart" tv that's slow to start, bloated with crap, installing updates every day, and maybe even spying on me.
I want a plain, old, normal TV. If possible without Android or any advanced operating system. Just a TV. I'll plug external content myself, either via a Chromecast device, or something similar. I don't want my TV to be a full fledged computer.
Is there such a thing? What would you buy nowadays? It seems you're forced to get yet another computer to maintain and be worried about whatever you buy.
That means you also don't apply updates to the server/kernel that require a reboot until then? Or you accept the downtime? And what happens if it doesn't boot properly?
Around 8 years ago I was working for a company that they also acquired, and they also forced us to move to Azure. Performance was terrible and our system wasn’t just working there as it should. A few years later our service was dead and all customers moved to one of their office products.
It was even worse a few months ago when the background was constantly changing colors. Fortunately enough people complained and they removed it.
This is more on the scale of the invention of the press, the telegraph, or the internet itself.
"I'm ok being left behind, I will join this Internet thing when it really becomes useful"...
Ok... you do you. Hope you don't get there too late.
I just can’t stand the excessive dynamism of Ruby. I understand some people prefer/enjoy it, it’s just not for me.
Only backend developers that think frontend is trivial and we’re all just idiots think that HTMX is the solution. They saw it working in their hello world side project and think they discovered gold.
