The way that Cloudflare works, it likely provides an ability to exfil and track active visitors to the site for three-letter agencies. Forcing Cloudflare to drop them might push them to use non-US services like what happened with 8chan and might not be the best move. Either way, these sites that host ilk always find an anti-DDoS provider >:(

It really is perplexing that the notion, primarily derived from white people, that keeping it labeled as Monkeypox “could” direct hate towards POC isn’t in itself considered racist.

0xChainon Ask HN: Is it just me or does Linode lately go down more frequently than usual?

I work for a company who pays $100k+ /month to Linode and we’ve regularly had uptime issues (for years) due to urgent maintenance or other outages in their data centers. Speaking of which, they currently have connectivity issues now in their London DC. I’d look to some other VPS provider like GCP/AWS/DO.

I currently pay for pretty much everything while she’s still undergoing her doctorate studies. The expectation is we’ll then split all bills 50/50 once she graduates and her career is in full swing.

So for now, she helps with tidying up the house, cooking some meals when her studies allow, and other random things as her way of contributing. I don’t ask this of her; she just does it because she’s cool af.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to always be transparent about money. Never hide things. And be mutually respectful, while creating a plan that is balanced and works for both levels of income.

Life is too short. Don’t waste it arguing about money.

Do you use a VPN? I had mine perma banned as well immediately after using a new VPN provider. The reason for ban said “ban evasion”. You should have gotten told a reason too.
