-mlv··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
Wouldn't be surprised if you weren't the only person with equity in nvidia around that time with similar paperwork errors, were that to be the case if word got around they settled with you, more people would start coming forward for the easy money.
-mlv··on HackEurope 2026: A short rant on AI and hackathons
> Front-end is almost everything. There is 0 burden of proof that your project is actually functional or that it has any practical application. As long as it looks cool, investors and non-technical people will eat that up.

This is depressing, I'd expect people at these events to be more informed and less ignorant than the general public.

-mlv··on Vulnerability reports are not special anymore
Have you considered using LLMs to perform some automated more-or-less reliable classification of incoming reports by severity, affected product, etc., then have agents try to replicate the reported findings?

Ideally the reports would also be coming in in the same structured format.

-mlv··on Arch Linux Now Believes Malware Incident Under Control: More Than 1,500 Packages
I recall the AUR always being touted very highly as some great advantage for Arch as a linux distro, unfortunately this convenience has also come with a price.

It's crazy that all it takes to become a maintainer of a package is to flag it as orphaned, wait 2 weeks for the original maintainer to fail to respond because they're on a holiday, and BAM! - the attacker can gets assigned as a maintainer and can now ship spicy updates.

-mlv··on South Korean forums will need to scan every images with AI censorship tools
There are plenty of TOTP 2FA apps that work across different platforms, open source ones too, it's just a couple dozen LoC for the core functionality.
-mlv··on Apple rejected my dictation app for using the accessibility API
No surprises here, Google has also been restricting access to its accessibility API.
-mlv··on Gemini 3.5 Flash
$3.40 is for spot instances from what I'm seeing and you'll probably gonna need more than 1 for V4 Pro.
-mlv··on Poland is now among the 20 largest economies
Small population plus lots of EU institutions.
-mlv··on Poland is now among the 20 largest economies
They're also the 3rd smallest net recipient of EU funds per capita:

-mlv··on Write some software, give it away for free
Firecracker and gVisor are used by AWS and GCP, respectively, are open source. That's just off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more, there's also the whole Open Compute Project, after all.
-mlv··on Show HN: Terminal UI for AWS
I had some issues with brew breaking up my system and pkg-config.
-mlv··on AMD and Sony's PS6 chipset aims to rethink the current graphics pipeline
In 2002 I remember PS1 being sold for 99€ in Toys'r'Us in the Netherlands, next to a PS2 being sold for 199€.
-mlv··on Couchers is officially out of beta
Top locations have way more people interested in couchsurfing than there are people hosting, so probably not feasible.
-mlv··on DOOM CAPTCHA
Managed to complete the CAPTCHA without strafing but it took me 3 tries.
-mlv··on AI PCs Aren't Good at AI: The CPU Beats the NPU
I always thought 'digital' referred to numbers, not fingers.
-mlv··on A $1k Wheelchair
A lot of left-handed people are actually cross-dominant or selectively ambidextrous.
-mlv··on The war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity
https://www.google.com/search?q=collaborative+whiteboard

Desk, chair, lightning, monitors are easily googlable, too.

Coming back to office creates more problems than it solves.

-mlv··on The war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity
Creche or another parent.
-mlv··on The war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity
I doubt there are many people in tech with bad Internet. Worst case, there's Starlink.

All other issues are easily solvable too, either with the right tools, or the right processes.

(nb. I also think working at a coffee shop isn't for most people)

-mlv··on The war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity
That's a problem that can be encountered by companies that don't think through how remote work is supposed to work at their workplace. It's easier to craft processes when everyone is remote (i.e. if the company is remote-first).
-mlv··on The war on remote work has nothing to do with productivity
If getting the best developers for your budget isn't a priority, hiring remotely allows you to stretch your runway further.

I wanted to reply to your comment re:Nordics but it seems it reached a limit to comment depth, your experiences are probably related to interacting with a biased sample, a quick google tells me that on average only a couple hundred Swedes immigrate to the US per year.

-mlv··on Show HN: I Made a Website for Problems
Those subreddits look dead.
-mlv··on Susan Wojcicki has died
Even cheap digital cameras back then could record video + audio.
-mlv··on Written by a 16 year old, a book on how computers work
If I were to include such a digression, I'd probably keep it as a footnote.

But all in all, great work, OP!

-mlv··on Panic at the Job Market
Lots of European tech work is just offshoring/outsourcing for US companies. S174 affects them to an even higher degree since foreign software development has to be amortized not over 5 years, but over 15 years.
-mlv··on A reawakening of systems programming meetups
Perhaps there's a local hackerspace in your area that'd be willing to host your group?
-mlv··on The Raspberry Pi 5 Is No Match for a Tini-Mini-Micro PC
A lot of those used cheap Dell minipcs come with serial ports and the slightly biger ones may have a parallel port.
-mlv··on Go: Sentinel errors and errors.Is() slow your code down by 3000%
I really don't want to be that guy, but I think the author meant to say '96.77%' instead of '3000%', or '96.66%' instead of '30x'.
