One way to dampen Microsoft's enthusiasm is to spread the word that in the entire confederation of Canada it is a civil offense to denote yourself as an Engineer of any sort unless you are a licensed Processional Engineer.
A computer science degree does not count; one needs a software engineering degree and that is quite a different thing.
