Heh, I have to reboot my MBP after each presentation since detaching the HDMI cable tends to mess up the screen.

I have that also. I'm not sure turning off the mirror option is really a good answer..when you know...I need the mirror option...

Do you have the "mirror" option on? If so, turn that off and you'll be fine.
