glibc has a fork/flavour called eglibc because Ulrich consistently refused to integrate work that wasn't relevant to his big iron Red Hat server world.

For example he's "famous" for refusing to patch ldd to work with any posix shell instead of bash: https://www.sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=3266
