I suspect the reason Appke's business practices weren't as bas as Microsoft's, was that they didn't have the marketshare.

Had Apple had the marketshare of Microsoft, I'm sure they were just as Evil, if not more.

Apple could get away with much worse business practices than Microsoft because it didn't have a monopoly, and was therefore held to much lower standards. Oracle even more so.

That could be true, but I think we should try to keep our opinions grounded in reality.

I remember huge fights on mid-90s usenet about Apple's anti-open source practices, up to and including Stallman trying to prevent FSF code from being ported to System Whatever, it was so bad. (But I'm not going to go digging through 20 year old gnu.misc.discuss flamewars)

Show me the bit in the 80s where Microsoft sued with a claim to have the exlusive right to develop GUIs, ever.

There's a reason the FSF blacklisted Apple, but not Microsoft, for many years.
