A lot of people live in apartments. I assume they'll be excluded from this.

It would be great if it would drop packages on my balcony. Then I don't have to be home but it's safe and I don't have to pick it up from the leasing office when they open.

Safe? I'll send my drone to steal your balcony package seconds after Amazon has left.

Delivery to a balcony could solve a lot of door drop off theft issues.

Sounds nice, but I assume balcony drop off theft would rise as a result

Above the 2nd floor, it would be quite hard to pull off.

I agree. His theory sounds like a reach, and rises to the height of absurdity; who could buy such a story?

...I'll stop now.

Nothing an Amazon-Prime-Air-follower-and-grabber drone couldn't handle!

Illegal drone-hunting drones sold on the black market out of China, with R&D sponsored by Russian gangsters…

Some of us grew up reading cyberpunk novels and ended up living in one. It feels… weird.

...from another drone picking it up.

One can imagine apartment buildings being fitted with rooftop chutes for this express purpose.

At least in my apartment, this would almost be easier than a traditional delivery since they can just leave it on the roof. I think a lot of buildings have roof access, which would be a great/secure spot to leave your packages.

Apparently tacocopter is closer to satire than a prank. It's a vision of how drones could be used in the future once regulation gets figured out.
