Actually, the background check company specifically cannot pass along convictions wherein the end of the sentence was more than seven years ago. If you read a HireRight report, it specifically mentions this. Any background check provider that supplies convictions older than seven years is liable under FCRA (with a few exceptions), and in California, you are entitled to your report after it is completed.
