The "flipped classroom" is an instructional technique where students watch a lecture or some other instructional resource on their own and then come to class to work on problems with the teacher. This is an alternative to the traditional classroom where the teacher lectures and then the students leave to do homework.
A regular classroom is used to teach material, and home study is used by students to further explore and reinforce those concepts. A flipped classroom has students learn the material on their own (e.g. video lectures), and then class time is used to reinforce and explore the material.
